Nikon's D300s seems to be having a hard time staying out of the viewfinder of other cameras, as the DSLR has popped up both in a nondescript close-up shot and in the hands of the president of a Nikon distributor at a Nikon Club gather in the Philippines. Same observations as
last time, from what we can tell it's got the same body as the D300 but with holes that suggest a mic input below the logo, although we've seen
hints of a SD card slot in previous leaks. As for
when we'll be seeing the official debut,
Nikon Rumors has a pretty good track record when it comes to these things, and it's reporting with near-absolute certainty that the company has lined up a press conference that'll take place either July 29th in the UK or 30th in Stockholm, Sweden, and a second date for August 4th in Sweden. The first event is expected to be the unveiling for D300s and
D3000 and the second some new point and shoots -- or it could be the other way around. Either way, with any luck all these uncertainties will work themselves out by the end of next week at the latest.

@ Jason - That's what Twitter's for you moron.
PORKCHOP sandwiches!
You're all so cute, I just wanna eat you up.
What are your favorite pizza toppings spoonman?
I don't have a personal favourite, but I saw someone with this really tasty looking pepperoni pizza today, so I goes into the restaurant to get one but was told that I couldn't have one because it was a pre-release pizza currently undergoing consumer testing, which sucked because it looked so gosh darn tasty! :/
Mm, have you been to CPK(California Pizza Kitchen)? They have some delicious pizzas with great toppings!
I love how even in a room full of camera enthusiasts not one was able to take a picture of the camera which isn't blurry! Maybe these Mr. Blurry Cam shots really are destined to be blurry no matter what!
Joe, this is severely off topic.
That's what you get for shooting with a Nikon.
TBT, this camera aint the real news. It's the lenses. It's always the lenses.
Look at his name... he is i kurt SEVEN ... 7 years old.. must be... my dads bigger than your dad!
I shoot with Nikon and Canon... Nikon is not playing catch up. My D3 is the best thing I ever owned :)
Who cares about Nikon? It's all about Canon, and their revolutionary 5D Mark II. Did you know that it has been a megahit for Canon? Even their array of legendary L lenses (which stands for Luxury) is used by white house press photographers as their lens of choice. Nikon on the other hand, is following behind when it comes to digital photography, that is why they're behind Canon. The D300s is a crop frame sensor camera and finally they're adding video, but is it full-HD?
My uncle uses a Canon EOS 1DS mark III as a wedding and sports photographer and he agrees that Nikon doesn't have a chance to catch up to Canon.
Your uncle? OK then.
Who cares about Nikon...easy there fanboy. Both Canon and Nikon are great camera companies ( I shoot with both) and have excellent bodies and lenses, in the right hands either can produce incredible shots. Why are you even comparing a 5D mark II to a D300s? Two totally different sensors (the 5D MII is FX the D300s is DX). As far as what your uncle said, the D3 out performs the Mark III in AF and high iso...so it actually looks like Canon needs to catch up, hopefully with the Mark IV
I say if its good enough for NASA its good enough for me

I am more excited about the New 70-200 2.8 VRII with Nano Coating...
Same tard-post in every Nikon thread. Don't you ever get tired, Trollboy?
Yes, comparing the 5D Mark II and the 300s makes a lot of sense.
How about comparing Canon's flagship model to...i dunno...anything comparable over at Nikon? How about the D3, D3X, and even the full-framed D700? Thadda boy.
and its LEGENDARY that you haven't used a camera before!!
How old are you iKurt???
I own a Canon 5d Mark II and I'm embarrassed that a fellow Canon shooter could be so ignorant. What a shame.
Cost?
$1,800 body only - about the same price as the D300 when it launched.
so maybe that's when we hear some news from sony as well with their a500, a850...
