BenQ's new 1080p LCD TV monitor makes someone in Europe very happy

Looks like viewers in the Benelux countries have one more option for their Eurovision parties this year. BenQ has just announced the MK2442, a 23.6-inch LCD TV / computer monitor that sports a 5ms response time, full HD at 1920x1080 / 1080p / 24Hz, an HDMI 1.3 interface, and something called Senseye Human Vision Technology (a proprietary image enhancement engine that, you know, "mimics the human eye" for "deeper, richer and more detailed images"). Available from August 20 all over Europe -- and just the thing for all your Russian techno-pop viewing needs.

What is the connection to Russian techno-pop?
I'm guessing since Eurovision was in Moscow last year?
A-ha, I see. Deep, yet subtle!
I'm gettin' real sick and tired of these computer monitors that are 1080p instead of proper 1920x1200.
I want my vertical pixels back, you thieves!
No way 16:9 ftw!
Haxers stoeled my pixals!!
If you don't want to view media in its proper aspect ratio then there's someting wrong with you man. If I pop in a DVD / Blu Ray, I want to view it at the proper aspect ratio. Besides, you don't even notice the diff that much anyway.
If 16:9 becomes the only widescreen format, then monitors will be that little cheaper, and you'll be able to buy more pixels.
YAY FOR PAUL CHAPEL!
24Hz? Did I read the right?
Yes, what's wrong? It's 1080p/24
We are regressing... HD has been on monitors since forever........... Now we're stuck at this standard, I was hoping to see monitors with way higher resolution by the end of the decade... Oh well!
Nevermind what I said.
Brainfart.
while 24fps is ideal for blu-ray but it is kinda annoying for ntsc and pal and it is useless for connect a pc.
Hopefully it supports 1080p60 too! It's just that many monitors/TVs support 1080p50 and 60, but not always 24 (which is perfect for Bluray movies)
I thought Norway won this year with "Fairytale"? Nontheless, the EuroVision Contest is one of the triumph cards that the US got against Europe, because it's so damn silly. It's not like the majority of people like it or anything, quite the opposite. ^_^'
As for the monitor, it could appear as if it had some focus on the speakers this time around (I assume the lower section is a speaker?). Also would be nice with a price indication, because at the moment the E2200HD and G2220HD are great in the lower end markets.
23.6" is too small for 1920 pixels IMHO.
Not that it isn't better than 22" of course, and it's doable, but it's not really comfortable I think, I'm sure people will pay $30 more for an extra inch (or two).
I know that's what she said, but she's slutty don't you know.
I've got a 15.4" laptop with 1680x1050, and I love it. I wish screens with huge pixel density were more commonplace.
Well I doubt anybody's going to put this in their main room, i.e. they'll be sitting closer.
You don't notice any 'coarseness' on 22" due to the pixels with 1680 compared to 20", but you do notice a much larger viewfield, so with 1920 to be equal to a 22" 1680 you'd have to have a 25" screen if I'm not too far off, and they make 26" HD ones, seems more reasonable to me for a non-notebook setup.
But of course it's also a matter of taste, to each his own, some like very very very crisp small screen, others like to have an area that's larger so they can sit back and still have a large area in their view, they can just make both :)
Now for epaper on the other hand I say increase pixels to the max even on small screens, no question.
The Lenovo L220X has 1920x1200 resolution on a 22" screen. I had one and while the resolution was fine, for some reason all the text was blurry and there were quality issues with it. I returned it but not because the DPI was uncomfortable.
I wish they make more monitors like that.
It's a computer screen, not a TV.

Russian techno pop. I like Nadya!!!
That monitor is completely unremarkable. Is it super cheap or something?
16:9 aspect ratio + TN = super cheap, yeah you are probably right
benelux = Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg, and none of 3 are mentioned in the source article...
