DJ Hero goes renegade with premium edition turntable, DJ stand
If your virtual disc-scratching needs something a little less silver and little more dark, brooding, and bronze, Activison today announced the DJ Hero Renegade Edition bundle, which includes just such a peripheral with promised premium metal controls and finish. The full package also comes with a hardshell carrying case that doubles as a stand, and less impacting on the gameplay itself, a Jay-Z / Eminem two-CD collection with unreleased tracks and a collectible case designed by Shepard Fairey. No word on price, but if that rumored $120 tag for the standard edition pans out, you can expect to be paying a prettier penny here. Browse the new gear, including the Wii version of the standard turntable, in the gallery below.

Big lump 'o plastic.
People are god damn morons that pay this kind of money for FAKE instruments. I like my Guitar Hero and all, but that's where it stops. One plastic guitar is all my stomach can tolerate.
Yes, people are morons because their idea of fun is different from yours.
I've just noticed that the strobe markings on the platter are uniform. What rubbish.
it aint no rock n roll
lol $120?? they must be smoking some good shit......
It's more like $1.20 in Chinese dollars.
Oh, I'm sorry. I meant $1.20 American dollars in China. My bad.
@ m3nphls
Nah I think the creators of bong hero are smoking the good shit
Whoever thought this up definitely likes to smozel the polzel.
I am going to write a game called "JAck-Off"
Basically it will be 5 buttins on a big dill-doe...
"WHy Jack Off when you can play a virtual JAck Off game"
This stuff is pathetic.
Don't think you'll see much interest in that, boss.
Do you think it's a little unhealthy that that was the first place your mind went?
Yeah it sounds like you have a couple issues there bro. Plus...who would want to play that game after the first person used it.
I'm still waiting for Flute Hero.
LMFAO!
pfft...triangle hero is where it's at
Only if it comes with the 'Band Camp' DLC.
Piano Hero FTW!
Definitely lookin to get into some Trumpet Hero.
Or Ocarina Hero from Nintendo where you can play the tunes of Mario Bros,Pokemon,Metroid, Donkey Kong,StarFox,Wario..
... and Kirby. :-P
Cow bell hero!
(Can't believe nobody mentioned it)
We all laugh now. but this thing will be a huge hit. People like to imagine their musicians instead of actually putting in the time to learn the craft.
And this thing will be a very cool party toy. theyll line up at Bestbuy and in the home to play it. This will be a hard item to keep stocked. Not saying ill be buying it but i do like the premium editions look.
btw he's not the same Matt that posted before you....
I agree that this shit is pathetic one of the draws for rock band and guitar hero is the multiplayer. I don't see that being prominent in this game. Maybe 1v1 or co op for versus songs but those can't make up the entire tracking listing. This game is probably gonna suck.
These things are a gateway. After playing Guitar Hero in its various incarnations, I have become way more interested in classic rock and the guitar. I bought a cheapo Strat copy and am trying to learn.
There's nothing wrong with these games. Video games are and have always been about putting yourself in a scenario that you wouldn't otherwise experience. You wouldn't say that a person plays Forza because they don't want to put in the time to learn the craft. They do it because it's an economical way to get a taste, however small, of the experience, and because it's fun.
Also, like you said, this will be huge when friends come over.
Comment fail, that was @ Neeko.
Agreed. Guitar hero was a gateway for me, and a couple of other people i know, into actual guitar. If I never had played guitar hero I would have never considered buying a cheap guitar to fool around with.
This looks frail for heavy duty scratching :(
ill be honest, GH blew dick. I just didnt like it at all. i mean i already played guitar freaks back 01, but thats just my opinion, dont get your skinny jeans in a knot. DJH will be even worse I should know, because in addition to playing bass( guitar is for kids ) I Dj , helps pay the rent. most cats wont understand this game because to these neophytes, Djing isn't the manipulation of a record in order to create a rhythmic pattern wich compels people to dance and/or marvel at your new take on the record(remixing). djing is popping in an ipod or putting itunes on shuffle. enough of my rant, what would really make this game isnt the pretty accessories or exclusive tracks, or even connectivity, but the ability to upload and share songs , 2 turntable and mixer setup, and even a vibrant tournament scene. this is obviously a social game. run with that and you have a winner.
but like i said, this is just my opinion, if you dont like it im sorry, snort guyliner or something.
have a good one.
I'm...sorry?
haha I agree with everyone on this one
Sweet. I've always wanted to act more ethnically diverse in the comfort of my home.
So spinning is only for....what ethnic group were you referring to?
I'm buying this.
I have fun with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and have bought most of the versions that have come out (skipped 80's, Metallica, and Aerosmith). I've always grown up around music and played the piano and the trumpet when I was younger. Now that I am working full-time and in college full time, I don't have the opportunity to just pick up an instrument and invest hours into learning how to play it, as many music game critics so helpfully point out as a better alternative to these games. So what option am I left with?
I'll continue to buy these plastic instruments and I'll continue to have fun playing these games with my friends or even by myself. DJ Hero looks like an interesting take on the music genre and I am looking forward to play it. This edition specifically appeals to me since it comes with a case that I can store the controller in as well as a stand to make setup easier at a friends house.
If you really are musicians, rather than be spiteful and make fun of gamers that pick these titles up, why not just be happy that more people are being exposed to various genres of music? I've found a lot of new bands through Rock Band and GH that I otherwise would have never listened to. Maybe some day I WILL have time to play the guitar or learn how to DJ properly, but right now this is a much cheaper and easier alternative that fits into my schedule.
Just saying.
With some real turntables you could have more fun than with this piece of shit, it's not even that hard!!!
I'm waiting for Lawn-Mower Hero, Dishwasher Hero, and Clean Your Room Hero, hopefully enabled with Natal.
I'm working on procrastination hero, i will get to it later
Chances are it'll cost as much as a DJ Dao Platinum Edition and be half as good
