Motorola Sholes Android phone headed for Verizon?

On the lookout for the Motorola / Android / Verizon trifecta, we dug up some handset renders over at motofan.ru that seem to fit the bill quite well, thank you. According to the site, "Sholes" is a 3.7-inch (480 x 854) touchscreen device that will make its debut in the U.S. in October, featuring: 512MB storage, 256MB RAM, support for microSD / microSDHC up to 16 GB (an 8GB microSD ships with the phone), a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS, and the expected connectivity (USB, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi), audio, and video formats. And if the translation wasn't hopelessly garbled, the source is also saying that this bad boy will support both CDMA and EVDO Rev A . No word on a price yet, but if this phone does make it to the realm of the real it'll be nice to see a Moto / Android device that doesn't look like it belongs in the hands of a tweenage girl (yeah, we said it, Morrison). See for yourself after the break.

Interesting. I shall follow a forum about this phone till the day it is released and hopefully I do buy it ;)
Is that.....AN ATRACTIVE MOTO?!?!?!?!
On Verizon with Android no less. What the hell is wrong with the world
Moto finally getting it right
What does this mean in terms of VZ saying "there will be no app store before mine?"....I agree with everyone else VZ will cripple it and undo the meaning of "open"
don't get too excited, verizon will find a way to screw this up.
well, it looks better than the new moto phones but it's still not up to par with htc, lg, palm, etc designs. that extra bit sticking out with the verizon logo seems completely useless.
strange keyboard layout
I speak Russian, the article also says that there will be a variant that works in 3G.

Shiny. For real. Also has anyone recognized a resemblance to the Calgary that was shown late '08? http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/12/16/upcoming-2009-verizon-handsets-from-motorola-pose-for-bgr/
How much screen space is actually there?? Can't tell from the pics. If the screen is as big as it _can_ be, I'm all in on this.
Oh, and Verizon has to promise on its mother's life not to bundle it with their proprietary crap.
Tired of Verizon's shitty customer service and all out destruction of cell phone features, but my bill is dirt low ... and I've been happy with the service. So I'll look at this when I'm due for a new phone.
thats a sexy looking phone, i really wanna know how thick it is.
Yo! Motoboys!
Please add buttons! You'll think "why didn't we add buttons?" when you try to localize a 28-button keyboard for a 32+ button language xD

我很喜欢这个
The good:
480x852 screen 3.7" touch screen
5 megapixel camera
physical keyboard with dedicated number row
dpad
The bad:
CDMA/EVDO on Verizon, instead of being a GSM phone
4 row keyboard instead of 5
dpad is on the keyboard, not the face
While the memory is better than the G1, it still seems a little anaemic to me.
But, it's the first post-G1 android device I've thought about.
Yes, the leak is authentic, it is headed to verizon, development started in Dec-Jan
I wonder what the blank key does.
It lets verizon know you hate the ui if it sucks when they bog it down. I really hope they don't though. it sounds like a sick phone.
This looks pretty good, this is the kind of thing thats making me hold off on buying a new phone. I want an Android phone preferably with a QWERTY, with a nice slick look. HTC seems to only want to make 3.2" Android phones and I'd prefer 3.5 and above if there is no hardware keyboard, so painfully I've decided not to get any of them. And the G1 was just uglie
HURRARY MOTOROLA!
Welcome back! I know you can do it!
Will Buy if Release to Singapore.... :)
no! why the keyboard??? those things do not make it any easier to type cause the buttons are still so freaking small... i was waiting for a new motorola phone to come out because i love them so much but the keyboard on this totally ruins it for me
