Zii EGG prototype gets a hands-on demonstration

Our interest was fairly piqued last week when Creative officially unveiled the Zii Egg handheld which we'd seen earlier at the FCC. Details are still a bit vague in some areas, but we know that the Zii Egg is really aiming at developers for its "Plaszma" platform. The Zii Egg also runs Android, though will not come pre-installed on the device instead coming as a download once the device is shipping. CNET Asia just got a chance to have a sit down with a pre-production model of the handheld, and here's what we're noticing in the video. The hardware, which looks pretty great, doesn't look very heavy or substantial to us -- which is not to say it looks cheap. The 10-point multitouch capacitive touchscreen was not operable at the time of the demonstration, but it sure sounds promising, and there also wasn't any real display of the software or applications as of yet. It looks like Creative will be filling its pre-orders for the Zii Egg in the second half of August, so we don't have too long to wait to see what this thing is all about. You obviously have no common sense. Why is it an iPhone clone? Because of the shape? There is no possible way to change that shape and keep the amount of happiness in consumers up. Is it a clone because it has a multi-touch screen? Yeah, that's really original on Apple's part though, Apple always has innovative ideas, right? Why else is it a clone? I would love to hear what kind of crap Apple fanboys can pull out of their asses.

Bottom line, Creative used a sleek look, and design with much better hardware to back it all up. Sure, Apple beat a lot of companies to it, but I can write a shitty paper and turn it in before everyone...does not mean it is good.

I say it is a clone because it looks like a iphone/ipod touch. Heck it even looks like a g1. I thought it was a phone this whole time until I started reading the past articles. How you are defending this imitation is like how car modders defend the nissan cube or the soul to the scion xb. They copied a working design. Don't be mad because people recognize it as a copy. The only thing you can really do is hope that is better than what it is imitating.

So much Apple hate, it is crazy. I would consider buying this device if I didn't have an iphone. Creative have always been a good brand when considering buying media players just like Apple. I wish The Creative Zii all the best.
