Just a few weeks too late for a Transformers 2 tie-in, Acer has announced a new revision of its Aspire G desktop, a.k.a. Predator. It shares the same case with the earlier edition that hit the US of A
late last year, but naturally has some better specs this time 'round. The CPU is now one of Intel's new
Core i7 950's running at 3.06GHz, up to 12GB of DDR3 RAM is on offer, while more permanent storage is offered by a 1TB HDD and a Blu-ray reader. A pair of NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 graphics cards keep the pixels flowing over four DVI-D ports, and dual Gigabit Ethernet is on offer for those about to rock shotgun network connections. All that clad in a brilliant orange case that looks like it rolled off the Lamborghini production line, though at ¥259,800 ($2,700ish) it's a lot cheaper than the Murciélago LP 670-4 Superveloce you've been drooling over. No word on American availability, but since the last one took about four months to make it this way perhaps we'll see this one by year's end.

Yeah, while it doesn't even try to appeal to the "I drive a VW bug" crowd, I think its awesome to someone like me, the sportbike/rallysport crowd.

Yup i went to tiger direct slapped a PC together with 12 GB DDR3, i7 Extreme, GTX 295 EVGA a 1000 Watt PSU, a i7 Compatibles mOtherboard for 2300 and that was me slapping something together in less than 5 MInutes
Dear God, it's hideous.
I actually admire the design as well....the design. As far as specs vs. price, I'll keep my greenbacks (all $2,700 ...) for something I can build with a bit more punch.

I saw an Acer with that case in PC World a few weeks ago, the whole moving cover and arms thing felt really flimsy and I don't think it would be long before it was broken.

Minimalism is key.
It's not MY style, but I do like the over-the-top styling. Too often bigger companies go too conservative, so it's nice to see a company like Acer let the design department have totally free reign.. either create something awesome looking, or go down in a spectacular ball of flames. None of this boring designed-by-committee crap.

I was wondering the post says that they don't know about launching them in the USA and i live in Puerto Rico which is an Island and obviously anything should come from other countries either air or water... and i saw this enormous gaming pc at sam's club near where i live for around 2,500. The sames specifications. So it should be already hitting the US. :)
I remember a case design similar to this one from probably 8 years ago now. Was fugly then and still is fugly now.
