China Mobile's 7-inch Android slate gets rendered
We've nothing much to go on outside of a few good renders and a smattering of machine translated paragraphs, but it sure sounds as if China Mobile is entertaining the idea of bringing a 7-inch Android-based tablet to its airwaves. As the story goes, said slate would boast China's homegrown TD-SCDMA 3G connectivity, support for video calling, a full-fledged web browser and an OPhone operating system -- which is essentially a customized version of Android for the Chinese market. Sadly, no further information was given, leaving us to wonder what kind of innards are scheduled for implant and what kind of price tag / release date we're looking at. Oh, and those "call" and "end call" buttons are pretty darn evident, leading us to believe that China Mobile might actually expect you to use this as your primary mobile. Can you say... Sidetalkin'?

This, and similar devices are what should replace the conventional home telephone with Skype-style video calling. I'm not getting the "sidetalkin'" jobe either. You wouldn't do it with a laptop, so why would you with one of these ?
Sidetalking < bluetooth headset
Nothing says Android like a big pointless analog clock widget.
* big pointless analog FUGLY clock widget
China Mobile uses CDMA2000, China Telecom uses TD-SCDMA... something has to be wrong.
Chris has a good point but I am thinking this as a replacement of my desktop cordless/DECT phone. Laptop is a laptop, I take it away anytime or my son may occupy it for his favourite flash game. (How many laptops or desktops for a home?) But this will always stay at home and replace the current customer local loop (copper connection to the switch) whis is becoming very expensive to operate everyday.
How many child die from hunger everyday?

That seems like a nice size for a hand-held device. I'd definitely be able to use one of those to watch movies. The stand feature would be useful. I'm curious to see how much one of these would weigh. It's just wide enough in portrait mode to be able to read while holding it with one hand.
Not bad at all.
Looks vaguely similar to a Samsung Q1 Ultra or X (same size, similar sized side bevel).
Though, I wonder if that's a dpad or a trackpad on the left...
It'd be interesting to see it here in the US, on a GSM market.
Iphone CLONE!!! Oh wait, it's not. WTF china? you use to be cool.
iphone doesnt have 6 buttons on the right :P
Or a freaking stand in the back.
