Eizo 24-inch FlexScan S2433W-H debuts, inspires blank stares

When not thrilling us with their excessively ugly HDTVs, the kids at Eizo usually have a relatively benign monitor or two to send our way. The FlexScan S2433W-H is a 24.1-inch LCD that sports WUXGA resolution (1920x1200), a 16ms response time, a DVI-D (HDCP) port, DisplayPort, and a coverage rate of 96% of Adobe RGB. Look for this guy in Japan on September 1, with the PR listing the price as a cool ¥94,800 about ($1,000).

I was thinking that the whole time I read this, for people who still are boggled over the 1000 dollar tag, read up:

Sure, but you can still get Dells with H-IPS for cheaper.
for 1000 $ yes please - seriously.... 24 inches of Eizo for 1000 i still can't believe it. Maybe i wasn't following the prices but damn! me must haz one and me will buy one.
Thats a little too much especially for that response time. I dont doubt the colors are nice but a 1000 for A monitor is a bit over the top.
As far as I understand it, $1000 for a professional display is cheap. A 30" LaCie 730, for example, will set you back almost $6000 so all things are relative.
As has already been noted, if you are looking for a display to watch movies on, play games, or do general non-graphic work then you can save yourself a heck of a lot of money and buy something else.
ACDs are crap compared to these things.
Glossy second layer outweighs the benefits.
meant to be @ the "i"
When I worked for Goldman Sachs, I had 2 of these "Brand" monitors and after using them for a few weeks, I had to do a google search on the Eizo brand as I had never seen such quality in a display. The veiwing angles were amazing the matt finish gave off close to zero reflection in direct sunlight. Graphs and charts seemed more precise, as lines and edges were sharper, colors more realistic.
