Microsoft announces pricing for Windows 7 family pack, upgrading
Micosoft's announced some Windows 7 pricing today, starting with a "family pack" option, which will allow users to upgrade three PCs to the Home Premium edition of the operating system for $149. The upgrade from XP or Vista to Home Premium for individual users, as previously announced, is $119. The company's also announced the Microsoft Anytime Upgrade option, which will allow users to move from one version of Windows 7 to another for a discounted price. Moving from Windows 7 Starter to Home Premium will run you $79.99, while the move from Home Premium to Professional will set you back $89.99. Finally, the move from Windows 7 Professional to Ultimate will cost $139.99, and Microsoft says that the upgrades can be done in about 10 minutes. The company did not, however, specify what the move from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Uber-Super Awesome would run, but we'll keep an eye out for you, and let you know when we do.

The "family pack" seems like the perfect option for me, will it work if i have xp installed on all three or would i have to install vista on all three first?
$149? Are they out of their mind in this economy? What will be the reason to pay $149 for Vista Pro?
What does the pricing of Vista have to do with Windows 7? Or was that supposed to be a clever little "Windows 7 = Vista" joke?
No, not Vista. We're talking about Vista Pro aka Windows 7. :)
I would guess they saw a lot of people pick up 3 copies of Win7 Home upgrade for $149 ... I know we did.
As mcmike said, I hope you can install these on computers not in your house. I want to give a copy to 2 of my cousins.
I think I'll start with Home and then upgrade throughout the year.
Vista Home Premium came with my PC so I guess I could get 7 Home Premium for 119?
Damn straight
I was wondering what to do? I have three computers in my house all using Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate. Will Microsoft be offering the family pack for windows 7 Ultimate?
These aren't labeled plainly. They should be called:
o Windows upgrade to won't run your peripheral devices, no drivers version
o Windows upgrade to won't run your XP applications, bad design version
o Windows upgrade to whoops, lost all your data, fresh install required version
...and finally...
o Windows upgrade to OSX, it just works version.
the last sentence killed the soaring momentum!
