iJoyPad demoed on iPhone 3GS, full screen PSX games looking rather sweet
The iJoyPad has been floating around for a bit now, but we've never seen a full demo of the add-on gamepad. Well, it's back in a video demoing its performance on an iPhone 3GS, using the psx4iphone emulator in full screen glory. The demo shows off Wipeout XL and Ridge Racer performing quite quickly and smoothly, and the iJoyPad itself seems totally functional -- and while it's a tiny bit clunky looking as far as we're concerned, we'd still like to swipe one for ourselves. Hit the read link for the video.

Guess the PSP is gonna die now.
Of much greater interest and import is ZodTTD's statement "The iJoyPad was an old competitor to the iControlPad. iControlPad won out and we will be hearing more from them soon. "
I thought the iControlPad was dead in the water, I'm glad to hear it's still in development/production.
Crap... now I REALLY wish I had an IPhone!!!!!!!!!!!!! (& AT&T service)
omg it looks holy swesome
Judging by those chunky hands his game playing days are almost over. Sad.
this looks quite orgasmic, and i hope some companies will pick it up for use
Apple seriously needs to invent a hardware control pad standard. Or else, all we are going to see is different gamepads not being supported very well. I'd prefer the pad to be covered around the iPhone, and have 2 analog sticks and shoulder buttons, and D-pad and ABXY buttons. That would be sick.
Apple could make another game section on their app store to go specifically with games that require the control pad. When u would play the game, the iPhone could go into a "Pro Game" mode where only thr game is running, allowing it to use all the resources. And if a Phone call comes, the caller could just leave a message (although im thinking the Phone would have to use a LITTLE bit of resources for that).
With that system, the iPhone/iPod touch could actually become a gamer's portable (in some kinda way)
Hello Engadget readers of the world. This was a prototype, you'll never ever be able to buy it. The iControlPad turned out to be the better idea so look for that later this year at http://icontrolpad.com
I thought it was a PSP GO at first glance. The joy pad needs tonbe redesigned badly.
We need a lot more of these maybe then a good company like Mad Katz will see there is a market out there for them.
looks uncomfortable
Wow, thats cool. I have verizon but w/e
why not just get a psp or DS or something similar??
they going to far with phones, pretty soon people arent going to even buy computers anymore they will do everything through their cellphones.
OH! wait they already practically do. :/
Pick me and I'll cancel verizon faster than you can say crapgadget :D
I hope this or the Gamebone comes out soon, as i would love to see more games where i can just put the iphone in a stand and play anywhere without putting my fingers on what im trying to see.
Its amazing that we can play playstation games on a phone
