@ Eddie If you want to use it for 720p movies, you are not going to have room for very many if there is only 16G of room. 32 is even cutting it to fewer than I would want to have handy without needing to synch nearly every few days to move movies around on it depending on what I wanted to watch. I understand the price point and cost being prohibitive but still...
@Neal I never said anything about how nice it is to not have to constantly re-sync. I stated that now a days I can pretty much guarantee you that 1. General public doesn't have much if any 720p video to sync (although it is growing, yes) 2. General public won't want to spend the extra money 3. Us techies/engadget readers != General public.
I completely agree with you. I, personally and without much backup besides initial leaks, dont think there will be a 64gb at launch. Eventually I really do hope so. However this is one of those things where I would LOVE to be proven wrong!
I'm sure they'll be releasing a 64 GB followed by a 128 GB model within a year or two. They 'll keep the same price structure, 400 clams for the newest highest capacity and drop the price of the older ones. So expect the 64 next year then the 128 then who knows maybe even a 256. I'm sure Microsoft has it all worked out already.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
I'll take that black one. Prefer a 64GB flavor if possible.
Agreed. I only want this if it comes in a 64GB.
64gb is a necessity for me. i think that is the general consensus.
I need that and for it to support disk use so I can plug it into my cars usb, I had to get rid of my old zune and get an ipod because of that.
@Phoenix Sanders
While I wouldn't necessarily mind having a 64gb option...the general public would disagree with you. Sorry mate.
ditto, I want 64GB... but sadly I hear 32gb is all we're gonna get.

I hear it will release with 16GB and 32GB variants with a 64GB version coming sometime after launch.
yep.
by now, most engadget readers prolly amassed over 100gb of mp3. and thats just mp3s!!! hehe
64gb zune hd is a must!
I want 64gb as well. That's why I'm waiting for the 3rdGen iPod touch next month.
Why support HD if your only gonna have 32gb, I would love one of these, but not if I can only put a hand full of HD title on it.

128 gb would be AWESOME but 64 gb is enough for me.

Microsoft better deliver...
