Dell goes pro with U2410 IPS monitor for Japan

It looks like those that'll accept no less than an IPS panel in their monitor now have another option from Dell, which has just debuted its new 24-inch U2410 monitor in Japan. The big selling point here, of course, is the monitor's color reproduction, which promises to reach 96% coverage of the Adobe RGB color space, and 100% coverage of the sRGB color space. Otherwise, you can expect some suitably high-end specs across the board, including a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, a 6ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a full range of ports including DVI, DisplayPort, and HDMI, not to mention a built-in 4-port USB hub. No word on a release over here, unfortunately, but folks in Japan can grab one now for ¥72,450, or about $760.

From the looks of the pics on the Dell Japan site, the SD/MS/XD card slot has been retained. Looks like CF is gone.
DELL U2410 BLOWS HP AWAY
The Dell has a Colour Gamut 110% Vs HP's 102%
Factory Tuned to sRGB & Adobe RGB Vs Not
DCR 80,000 Vs No DCR
6 Axis Color Control Vs RGB Color Control
1.07 Billion Color Depth Vs 16.7M
And the icing on the cake Dell provides a colour accuracy report for every monitor.
It can't exactly blow it away if it's actually using the SAME panel (LM240WU4) from the HP's LP2475W.
I don't believe the U2410 and HP LP2475 will be that different. They are likely based on the same design and possibly from the same ODM. Remember, Dell is a great packager, there's only select products that they design and build from scratch. Monitors are not usually one of them.
Take a look at the back panel of both the Dell and HP. The layouts are remarkably similar with the big difference being no Svideo on the Dell and no VGA on the HP.
Looks like I've got something to save up for to go alongside my 2209WA :)
The HPLP2475w is a pretty good $550 IPS LCD monitor.

Not as great as the draeamcolor but way better than a TN panel.
