Amzer issues embarrassingly gigantic Palm Pre extended batteries
Look at that. Just look at that. Do you have the slightest idea what that is? No, it's not a wired optical mouse. It's not a smartphone from circa 1985. It's a Palm Pre with a battery that just might last until you're six feet under if you choose not to chat much. After one-upping Seidio's 1,350mAh battery with a 1,400mAh version, the company has now hit back with a new duo that redefines your vision of "bulging." Both the 2,800mAh and 3,800mAh cells ship with (and thus require) new backplates to contain the extra girth, and neither of them support Palm's Touchstone charger. PreThinking is currently testing 'em out, but considering that it just might be 2015 before they're able to report any results, they've hosted up a litany of product shots for the time being. Head on down to the read link if you're looking for laughs.

I've fitted my HTC/Verizon 6800 (aka Sprint Mogul) with a Seido 3600mAh battery, which comes with an extra-deep replacement bezel. It lets me connect my WiFi laptop to the Net all-day using WMWiFiRouter.
You're my hero. I've only just recently discovered WMWiFiROUTER, and now that I know they make ridiculously huge batteries, I am now on a quest to find one for my touch pro!
(The thing's already a brick, especially in a hard case. Time to make it even more ridiculous!)
You know guys wanna know what looks worse? The fastmac iV charger case on my iPhone 3GS. But it doesn't matter, I go for functionality, not looks. And now my iPhone can go days without a charge and it has camera flash :-). But seriously, my iPhone is now a Frankenstein .
I don't see the + and - posts so you can jump start your car, no sale.
Somebody please find out why World of Warcraft mousepad is there. I must know!
My eyes went to the picture before I rad the title, and I really did thing this was a mouse of some sort.
BAHHHAHAHAHAHA! No comments!
Damn son, I thought that was a new ugly Mouse!!!
Couldn't they make the battery use the available space under that huger cover? There are lots of mAh wasted there...
Anyway the 2800 mAh version looks like the best compromise... not too ugly.
no joke, there is a lot of real estate wasted under that cover. They could fit a 5,000 or 6,000 mAh battery under the cover they require for the 3,800 version.

Nice WOTLK mousepad. Someone owns the Collector's Edition I see...
if you don't get three years of battery life, it isn't worth it
The 2800 one is better, in terms of size , grip and usage.
But seriously some is is raking money ( I say looting) , whats up with that 129.99 dollars for a battery ?
I can get another Pre at the SHACK (radioshack) if I throw another 20 bucks.
The extended battery business needs competition.
The name, PreThinking is apt... Before thinking, we turned this giant power brick out. Guaranteed to fit uncomfortably in any pocket you may have.
I see someone got the WotLK Special Edition
mark-paul gosselaar ordered a thousand
WTF???
*Sorry if my comment was unappropriate, please delete if necessary. It was a natural knee-jerk reaction after finally finding the Palm Pre under that... thing...
George Costanza would love this! It goes with his wallet. Holy cow!
I had something like this for my old Treo 600. It was a sled-type of thing, snapped onto the outside of the phone without removing the regular battery. It was indeed butt-ugly and huge but it did last a lot longer and was good to have on a long trip. If the price was right I might get one to keep as a spare. (That's if I had a Pre, which I don't because it isn't available on *&$#*#&$in' Verizon yet.)
How does that not end up in every shot from the camera? Notice how carved out that is by the lens...but still...really? It's like having a hood on the lens! Maybe it cuts down on glare.
The thing that bothers me most about these is all the wasted space. They all have replacements for the back of the Pre… and yet the batteries themselves are always rectangular. If you’re going to have a battery that extends out of the slot, might as well go the whole way and fill the contours of the new back cover with battery. This is just lazy engineering to have all that empty space.
Are you sure that's not the Touch Pro 2?
Doesn't this kinda defeat the purpose of a small, sleek, and convienent device? And if will be hard as hell to use the keyboard.
@Paul Corlatan
You would need a belt holster for it. If you were accustomed to using one, it might not be a bad move.
you can use it for self defense!
but can it survive a teenager!
will it handle 14 hours of continuous talk/text/twitter time and still recharge in time for school.
lol you put it in your front.. erm.. pocket... why? Because for some of you... it's better to be caught stuffing your "skiiny jeans" with that pre-normous object than a sock.

I don't get it. Why wouldn't Seidio make the battery in a more "friendly" shape to cut down on girth? This may be a nice option if they flattened it out and spread it out over the entire backside of the Pre. This battery is here is way too unnecessarily thick and there is way too much unused space under the hood.
"Hey baby, is that a pre in your pants, or are you just happy to see me! ;-)"
This is just too large, it would be like talking into a old CB radio handset. These batteries look like they would be more at home on a camcorder.
