As has annoyingly become the norm with
Dell LCDs, the outfit has seemingly just thrown three new ones onto the world's platter tonight with nary a peep from its press line. Up first is the 23-inch ST2310 (shown above), a slick widescreen panel with a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, narrow bezels, a curved rear, DVI / VGA / HDMI inputs, 250 nits of brightness, a useless 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, five millisecond response time and audio in /out ports for good measure. The 22-inch E2210H and 20-inch E2010H (shown after the break) both tout an all-business motif, with the former pushing a Full HD native resolution and the latter handling just 1,600 x 900 pixels. The whole trio looks to be available right now, with retail marks set at $229, $199 and $139 in order of mention.

Who needs to pay for advertising when Engadget will do it for you?!
It saves Apple a lot of money.
Why is the 22" more expensive then the 23"?
Good question.
HD monitors are amazingly cheap these days. Shame the nice IPS ones don't seem to be falling in price. It used to be a small premium, now it's a 4x difference.
The 22" is a business style model. Probably has better build quality or other such things.
I suppose its most likely manufactering design or parts. If its a significant gap, could be a better panel. Most dell panels are TN panels, which comprimise between color and response time.
the led versions of these are much nicer and cheaper. I'm not really sure what's up with this move here.
I just bought the 24" g2410 two days ago for $197+tax. Similar specs, but higher contrast ratio (leds) and an inch larger.
My old 17" Dell LCD monitor can be rotated and has height adjustment. Why is it so hard to find those features in today's LCD monitors? Some of them have only limited tilt adjustment. Ridiculous.
Plenty of Dell monitors have that feature, though really only the 'business oriented' ones. All the monitors at my office have those features, though the tilt is somewhat annoying as it makes it damn near impossible to get mine perfectly aligned with eachother.
Anyone else wondering where all the LED monitors are?
Most of them are still in Scrooge McDuck's money pile. Too expensive at the moment.
search for Dell G2410. Just bought one. There's also the G2210.
16:9 is pretty useless except when you are permanently substituting it in place of a television...
You like 16:10 better? Why not just have a 4:3 then?
@GRAMMAR POLICE: 16:10 is more pleasing to look at than either 16:9 or 4:3 (it's very close to the golden ratio). 1920x1200 lets you watch full HD while giving you space for toolbars or a menu.
when I'm watching full HD videos, I'd rather be counting pixels and bitrate than playing with toolbars and keeping an eye on the time.
@GRAMMAR POLICE, 16:10 adds horizontal resolution to 4:3 (e.g., 1920x1200 vs 1600x1200) whereas 16:9 removes vertical resolution from 16:10 (e.g., 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200). Removing number of pixels is not a progress, unless you want to use the monitor as a TV.
Cool!
Buy one, black out the little logo...!
Not too bad. Wish they were 16:10 though. I like widescreen, but 16:9 is just a little bit too wide. Also as someone who uses Photoshop on a daily basis I have to wonder what the color accuracy is like.
I'm quite happy with my 24 inch, thanks Dell.
There are some mistakes on the prices... and the last link doesn't math with de 20 inch monitor... (http://www.logicbuy.com/searchresults.aspx?searchterms=dell+E2010H)
Prices are:
229$ - 23"
199$ - 22"
169$ - 20"
For those who are interested :-P
That's because there's a 20% and $15 Coupon code on these new LCD monitors.
how come they say the high contrast ratio is useless? (just wondering.)
It's Dynamic Contrast that is useless. At least to anyone seriously concerned with picture quality. It's more useful to know the NATIVE contrast ratio. And in all honesty, nowadays most major manufacturers panels have very similar native contrast numbers.
Contrast ratio is the difference between the brightest white and darkest black that the monitor can show.
Typically, manufacturers will artificially inflate this number by making the whites brighter (useless) rather than making the blacks darker.
You know what sucks... doesn't seem to be VESA ... no wall mounting for me :(
I've got to say, I HATE the trend in monitors to go 16:9 instead of 16:10. I want my extra vertical resolution.
Where's the Alienware 42" wraparound monitor they announced oh-so-long ago and some of us have been waiting for?
2 CFLs instead of 4 for "energy efficiency"?
sounds like these monitors won't be too great...
Dell only makes one monitor worth noticing: the UltraSharp 2408WFP. Every model under this is TN-panel crap that can't even produce the full NTSC color gamut.
+1, although Dell does offer other IPS panels.
I've been thinking of getting the 2209WA for awhile now.
I got the 2209WA its awesome, get it.
Dell stopped selling the 2209wa
Rumor is it was a test run to see how well the e-ips would sell or that LG can't keep up with the demand for these new type of panels.
"a curved rear"-
Always a good thing IMHO.
Manufacturers listen: Quit stealing the verical space!
1920x1080 doesn't cut it, Don't steal that extra 230400(1920x120) pixels! I will not be buying one of these for that very reason!
Yea, I'm familiar with 1080p, its fine for TV, but leave our computers alone. Surrouding HD video with 120px of black bar is perfectly acceptable.
If these are the cheapo monitors, then fine, but don't let this take over the screen market.
A useless 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio?
Are you serious? You're aware that some people do more than Excel spreadsheets with those right?
I just might get the 23" inch. I bought the S2309W a few weeks ago but returned it because of the most annoying thing ever. There is a HDMI feature on that monitor called Audio Power Save, and whenever there is a brief moment of no sound activity, this "feature" activates. Once the sound returns, instead of the sound coming back instantly, it FADES in like 5 seconds later. WTF is that all about? This feature would commonly activate in between commercials or during loading screens on my 360. So freaking annoying.
There was a menu option to turn this feature off, but it wouldn't actually turn off when set to off. So I called them up and returned it for a full refund. The dell rep was all like... "yeah.........about that..." It was a known issue so I got my full refund bitches. I'm gonna take my chances and order this new one. Hopefully dell didn't screw up on this one too.
Correction, I meant S2409W.
the 2209wa is still for sale it just is not available since it sells out every single time and there are limited e-ips panels available.
Dell wouldn't keep putting it for sale at less that it's full price if they were going to discontinue it.
As it stands it normally is $229 or less not the full price of $279, so if Dell stopped making and selling it wouldn't demand dictate to sell the limited remaining stock at the higher price?
I have one and it is probably the best monitor under 24" around these new models are not the UltraSharp that the 2209wa and the 2408wfp are so they are not even the premium models just run of the mill TN FullHD crap for cheap.
Also 16:10 1920x1200 is better for computer monitors since both 1920x1080 and 1600x1200 fit without any scaling so standard size page layout fits and is proportional and so do 16:9 videos
And yeah I said videos since Films are 1.85:1, 2.31:1, 2.35:1, 2.40:1 and HDTV is 1.78:1 (aka 16:9) so most dvds and blu-ray is not going to fill a whole 1920x1080 screen without letterboxing so I'd rather have the extra pixels and more versatile layout options that 16:10 affords than have a 16:9 monitor hell even game support is better for 16:10 resolutions than 16:9 ones.
Is it too much to ask for an S or H-IPS panel in a 22, 23, or 24" pkg that supports 1920x1080. Yes, 16x10 in case you weren't paying attention to your prosumer media customers. We dont need compromises in value with shitty speakers, extra usb ports, or anything else but a couple dvi, hdmi and vga port for good measure. Thats it. Maybe apple will end up with my business but if something launches in the $300-500 pricepoint you will sell a ton. Are you listening dell? samsung, LG, NEC, hp lol...
Has anyone bought and tried one yet?
How does it compare to others in the same price range such as the Samsung 2333bw?
