Video: Robots cook delicious ramen noodles for expendable humans
So you think you've seen robot chefs before, huh? Well, actually, yes you probably have -- but you sure as hell haven't seen a mechanical cook spinning plates, right? We thought so. The latest culinary drone, hailing from Nagoya, Japan, features a pair of delightfully dextrous arms and is capable of serving up a yummy bowl of ramen noodles in under two minutes. With such rapid speed, the bots get some downtime, which they fill by performing a little show for their clientele. Trust us, you really don't wanna be the one person who didn't see the surreal duel that lies beyond the break.

Remind me of the scutters from Red Dwarf. I hope there's a curry flavor Raman on the menu?
Well as long as they use %10 less salt than a lethal dose I'm sold!
That sunuvabitch has a knife...
Perhaps, but Rimmer never fixed the soup dispensers, the smeghead.
You cant make ramen without "men". :)
Those crazy Japanese!
They will soon replace women and men with robots for "those" needs as well.
the Japanese?
Men and women will soon replace raw fish and sashimi on the robot's chopping block.....
Downtime you dont eat NUBBBS!!!
Jesus, did you see that? That one robot tried to kill the other! If it tried to kill another robot, i wonder what it will try to do to the customers!?
Also, forgot to say, I for one welcome our new robot chef overlords!
Clearly they will feed the customers!
I think you mean they will feed the customers the customers!
I hope that they are programmed NOT to feed the Trolls

@ God
No, if I had meant to say that, I would have said it. Not much of a God if you make a simple mistake like this. I think we need to revoke your Omnipotent license over this blunder.
Shhhh professor, you are ruining my image >_>
@ProfessorDex
Are you questioning God?!
you can't do that! Didn't you learn anything in church. Just believe what he says blindly!
if he says you meant to say that then you meant to say that.
pff.. noob.
they'll serve anyone, and to anyone, at all.
Yea until they start to FEED on the customers
I never went to Church which would explain why I have problems believing in a super all-knowing, all-powerful being who created everything around me in six days and was even thoughtful enough to convince various people through the years keep a detailed diary of those events so that everyone in future years could blindly believe it to be true! :)
your new around here, yeah Vladislav?
your doin a great job... your posts are a joy to read for some reason (and you do your research with past articles)
keep it up :D
ahk, the first two "your"s should be "you're"........ my bad
...you can tell when it's friday
Or when people don't proofread their posts before hitting "Add Comment". :)
I am going to frame that comment for posterity. Thank you!
it seems if i miss a post on GIZ i can just wait a few days and see an encore here *rolls eyes*.
so... as car manufacturing plants shut down and the machines are laid off, they find new work in ramen shops...
i fully approve...
well, except for the potential stabbing one may receive as they seek vengeance from losing their jobs in the first place
The noodle is a lie
Color me underwhelmed, I've seen better robots everywhere and long ago already, even at amateur level.
What color would that be exactly?
#FFFFFF
Thanks TTSGEB, it's indeed blank.
The knife fight at the end was amusing.
"You bastard!"
"Stop it!"
Is that what they said?
...lol

We're not expendable. Otherwise they wouldn't be fattening us up.

The girl at the beginning of the video looked as clueless as the chick at the local McDonald's register. "But I don't see a button with a picture of no pickles..."
I'm disillusioned @ Japanese intellectual superiority... :-(
Yeah, fatten up the humans then feed them to the biomass eating robots!

I haven't watched the vid, but... It's cooking ramen, right? WHY DOES IT HAVE A BUTCHER KNIFE?!!!??!!!one
obligatory knife fight... duh
Ramen means noodles. Is this cooking noodles noodles?
Some of the movements are quite graceful for robots, especially the pouring action.
The noodles however look like s**t.
WOW, its a big automatic food day on engadget. FANTASTIC.
These two robots got laid off from Nissan and retrained to make noodles.
So people would rather have robots who take about 2 minutes to make ramen when they can easily get a 10 year old to make one in how long? 40 seconds?
but the rbots does cooking consistently and can be sped up with new hardware and software where as with the 10yr old he/she can 1 day take 5secs and another day take 15 minutes...
What was the meal? It looked quite tasty.
Isn't the writing Korean? Is this really in Japan?
korean writing overlay from a korean website that seems to report on japanese stuff..
so yea, its really in japan... not to mention the robots were speaking japanese..
Is it just me who is slightly worried at the fact that the robot is wielding a knife?
Haha, that's so awesome! =)
