MSI X-Slim X600 reviewed: an 'attractive choice'
MSI's X-Slim X600 may not be the quickest, most nimble or most powerful 15.6-inch laptop on the market today, bit with a thickness of just 0.75-inches, it's definitely got the ultrathin motif down pat. The kind lads and ladies over at Laptop Mag recently secured one of the machines for review, and they seemed adequately impressed with the combination of a low-power CPU (1.4GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500) and a multimedia-friendly discrete GPU (ATI's 512MB Radeon HD 4330) -- a tandem that's hard to find anywhere, let alone for $799. All told, the machine performed satisfactorily across the board, notching decent scores in a wide array of benchmarks and looking good all the while. Still, critics noted that Sony's VAIO NW would be more suitable for those with a Blu-ray craving and that Gateway's $599 NV is probably better for those looking for raw horsepower. If style is atop your list, though, it'll be tough to dodge the "buy" button on this one.

But how well will it hackintosh?
Black Macbook Air Killer Anyone?
How can you kill...that which is already dead?
@iJonathan: How about this one: The X340 is a MacBook Air Killer

That Sony is only $80 more and it's way better than this?! wtf MSI...trying to act like other companies?!
It will probably run better on Windows 7, right?
if you dont think people care between price difference of $799 and $300, yes, it might be attractive.
so sexy :)
Core 2 Solo SU3500 seems to be the new $800 laptop cpu
for saving power or keeping a thin profile, yes.
otherwise it would be the t6400 or p8400...both quite a bit more powerful.
With that footprint who cares about the 0.75" thickness, it's still far too large to be portable. A regular 13.3" laptop fits almost any bags while this one still requires a large laptop bag.
Not too keen on the slow cpu, but also do you guys really think that looks good? Personally i think it looks very cheap=/
I'm more interested in the new ati 4330 chipset. seems that its more than enough for blu-ray playback and did quite well against the ati 4570 and ati 3200. thank goodness. seems like manufacturers have a gpu that is lower power and reasonably priced. hopefully it will finally kill intel's garbage gma 4500hd.
hello,
anyone knows the price for europe ( € ) ? for this one and for the vaio nw?
thanks.
Here you are the newest member of MSI's X-Slim family, the X-Slim X610: http://techngear.com/msi-unveil-its-x-slim-x610-15-6-inch-laptop.html
Free optical drive with a free windows 7 upgrade if bought at msi's website. I would buy one if i had the money. i got to play with my friend's and it's pretty legit. the keypad is kinda out of character for a slim computer. maybe they're thinking about gamers? not that gamers would use a slim to play games. but who knows, maybe they'll get tired of hauling around their 15 lbs. laptops and convert to thin notebooks when their on the go. or maybe it's for accountants....
