EH, the only reason I still have my PS3 is because it plays bluray disks. Unless you're big on RPGs, the 360 is a much more enjoyable console.
I'm sure robin is the one that makes all the game decisions in the bat cave.
I hope that's not what it looks like, I agree that the current PS3 is more attractive, but I can't wait to get one anyway. I've wanted a PS3 for a couple months but am waiting for the price cut/slim model.
I really hope this is coming. And soon. And cheap. Ok, at least cheaper than the current model.
Your entitled to your opinion but the 360 currently has more RPGs than the PS3. However the PS3 covers a broader range of genres in terms of its exclusives.
wow pleeez tell me, is that really the new PS3? it looks awesome =O i want one
I've decided to give in and get a PS3, I really want one now, but friends have been telling me I should wait for the Slim model. Will the slim model, have and advantages over the current one besides size? And will the current one have and advantages over the slim one? Or is this unknown right now?
Stores are already selling for €299! Check at amazon europe and other major stores.
There is *no* "Amazon Europe", there's the UK, Germany and France.
The British don't use the Euro, and the German Amazon sells the PS3 for 348 EUROS. Amazon France sells it for even *more*.
Jakob - In a way, we all lose.
I hope the ps3 slim gets tons of RRoD
Has anyone here actually broken open a PS3 besides me?
It is one big heat sink surrounded by a thin layer of shiney piano black plastic. The only reason the console is so quiet and runs so cool is because of the masses of metal surrounding the fan assembly, disc drive, and core motherboard. Rods of metal absorb and dissipate the heat, cooling the board, while the fan sucks any latent heat remaining in the air, circulating colder air in. Additionally, especially when the fans kick in, their placement within this metal endoskeleton reduce vibration and refract sound, effectively sound-proofing the black box.
And people want a smaller system, which most likely will not have this design advantage.
Instead of wasting their time on this endeavor - it will not sell consoles - I would prefer they officially support and announce their Emotion Engine emulation through the Cell, discovered in patent filings a couple months back, for an imminent firmware update while continuing with their existing hardware. Not only will they gain PS2 BC, which will bring stalwarts forward, they will continue to cut costs in a time-proven manner without unnecessary R&D.
Or, I'm just crazy : P
If the PS3 Slim is anything like the PS2, it will probably have an external power supply, newer components and an optimised design. All this leads to a quieter and cooler console, which makes the "design advantage" you talk about, well, useless.
MR. COMMENT ERASER
Why?
I've decided if the ps3 slim is more than 300, I'm gonna get the XBox360. The only game I really want to play is Madden, I already have a stand alone blu-ray player and can watch any video off my laptop by connecting using hdmi. The PS3 XMB interface is sluggish anyhow and doesn't support mkv formats unless you install linux with vlc. I've been waiting for this PS3 slim to come out for the longest time, but if they disappoint me with the price, xbox360 here I come. I have a sinking feeling they'll make the slim 350 when it's first released, and then 300 for the holiday season. I'm not waiting till christmas damn it. If sony is smart, they'll make it a flat $300.
I've could have gotten a PS3 a long time ago, and yet I still don't see any reason to get one NOW even with a $100 price drop, slim version or not. In the future, that may change. I already have a cheaper Panasonic BD-35 $199 2.0 Blu-Ray player from back in Dec. So it would have to be for the GAMES, and there's still not much I want to play on it that I can't play on the 360. Even then the 360 version is generally better over the PS3 version. I don't know, I'm just waiting for that 1 game that just screams to me to BUY ME! Which would force me to buy the PS3. I am so glad I didn't buy the Wii. I've played it at different places and I see getting bored fast. Then again I owned a N64 and sold it after a year or so as it got old. Maybe this will change things around for SONY, who knows. To me it seems to little to late. A PS3 price drop means one thing, a 360 price drop to follow. The 360 will continue to be the cheapest Console, even cheaper then a Wii, this generation. Sony can't complete in price.
