As history
tells us time and time again, iPhone apps / updates submitted to Apple aren't a sure deal for approval. Still, we can't help but like where
SlingPlayer Mobile is going with the recently-submitted version 1.1. In addition to providing true 16:9 widescreen support that stretches across the whole screen, Slingbox owners with DISH Network can now navigate using a touch-supported native browser, instead of pushing through the TV-standard browsing screen being streamed in. That last bit's great for US customers, but it's what the rest of the world might get that has our interests very piqued. The company's submitted a version for use outside of AT&T's homeland that would finally allow for streaming over a 3G connection -- again, not a certainty for approval, but we'll be most interested to see if that one makes its way through the system.
The Colbert report is the shit.
i kind of doubt apple will allow a 3g version in the app store, even if it's not available in the US. all that will do will expose at&t as a garbage service provider.
Really, iPoop? Then maybe you can offer a coherent argument as to why Apple wouldn't want something like this on the iPhone. What exactly is Apple's stake in something like this? More functionality for the iPhone?
OH NOES.
If you're not completely braindead, you will recognize that AT&T would have something to lose with an app like this, not Apple. Do the math.
Never gonna happen. I think Slingbox folks should develop for the Palm Pre and WebOS instead!
Yeah, right, because there are so many millions of Palm Pre owners out there, why mess with the iPhone/iPod Touch, since there are tons more of them in the hands of consumers. Seriously!
Thats in the line actually
GPS, how do you know this for sure? Do you have a source?

oops, that's supposed to @aaron
if you have a jailbroken iphone you can use slingbox player with 3g.
Seems like differentiating between an 'ATT' app and an international app would give the FCC a lot of ammunition to argue ATT actually does have a lot of influence over apps in the store.
I'm VERY interested to see how how this story develops...
Hmm, have to wonder if maybe AT&T will let the 3G version through here in the USA now that they are starting to be looked at by the FCC. I sure hope they loosen their grip on Iphone Apps and let them on their network. Also glad to see 16:9 support being added as I am tired of watching video's on a 2.8" window when I have a 3.5" screen available. Sling should have had that in the first version.. why not use all the screen space from the begining, maybe even offer some zoom levels like on the desktop version next time!
finally bit the bullet and got this app last week; dusted off the ol' slingbox AV. Considering jailbreaking again to get this to work over 3G, and I am missing SB Settings, it was sooo sweet.
Next up is a slingcatcher so I can watch all of my paid for cable channels in my bedroom (comcast wont let me have another box because I'm in an apartment with some sort of bullsh** 'one outlet only' clause)
Hopefully AT&T changes the TOS with this App so I can promptly cancel and get away from the Iphone hype that I got sucked into (it's like the RAZR all over again).
I do hate ATT for blocking this sort of stuff... I really do. But at the same time, I sincerely doubt their Network is up to the task of streaming video footage to all of the iPhones in America. I just wish they would come out and admit that, and block all the other phones from streaming third party video as well.
Still waiting for Slingplayer in Denmark.
When tethering I can stream with 1,5 Mbit with iPhone 3G S from my Slingbox. It would be nice to save traffic - also for my carrier :)
Wonder if Sling could get sling.com to work as a web-based app so we could stream 3g??? Why not?
beta.sling.com
Not sure if it'll work on the iPhone, but it is Mac compatible.

How do you know it’s AT&T stopping the App.
The app store approval process makes Rush Fat Ass Limbaugh look good.
Apple has become the Sarah Palin of App Stores.
Do as I say (yet I can’t say anything coherently) so just do as I say after I reject your app.
Give me Google Android for the Win.
Yay if this is approved for markets outside the US, the FCC will have all the proof it needs to show att make decisions about the app store.
You don't know it's AT&T.
Google Android is a superior Mobile OS after less than a year.
It's Steve Jobs (I can buy a Liver but never give to charity) that has the final say.
Google for win. I don't need Jobs to be the moral majority for the world and my phone.
I've never been a fan of JailBreaking my phone but Apple has used A&T as the bad guy for long enought.
my slingbox does not work on my VIP722 Dish receiver. the remote only works if its set to AT&T, although it IS dish network!
There will surely never be a 3G version of this anywhere?! though people are on about it outside the US... http://www.silasslack.com/archives/2065
