Intel issues X25-M G2 SSD firmware fix for BIOS password conundrum
Eagerly waiting to change that drive password within the system BIOS on your fancy new X25-M G2 solid state drive? Good news, storage junkies -- today you can. After Intel saw its next-gen SSD launch party hit a snag with an off-the-wall quirk that could cause data corruption for those who altered or disabled a drive password within the system BIOS, the company has finally come forward with a firmware update that solves the dilemma, along with world hunger, "the economy" and an undisclosed amount of other universal pains. Hit the read link for instructions on how to update your drive, but don't blame us if every precious memory you've ever collected goes down in flames during the process. Just kidding.

So shipments are gonna start again? Huzzah! An X25-M should be in my laptop very soon! :D
so when can we actually buy these things? i don't think anyone actually has them outside of reviewers. they never hit the market before this bug was found.
The consensus date amongst german online stores seems to be August 18th for availability.
But considering the bug has been fixed, these puppies should be on their way to the stores right this moment.
BTW I love how newegg.com doesn't have them in stock but recommends we buy the OLD G1 version for the same price. Yeah, right. Any other outdated hardware you want to get rid of, Newegg?
I really wish Intel would add trim support for G1....$800+ product outdated by a better one at 50% of the cost
Such is the life of computer components...*sigh*
TRIM seems to be a big deal - what's the status on that? Is it supported by all modern hardware? Is it supported by OS X and if not, is there a workaround, liks a utility program to run every now and then?
The X18-M G2 isn't shipping. It was probably also effected, but because no one has one there's nothing to recall.
X18-m g2 seems not affected by this bug. Only x25-m g2 need to update the firmware.
Cool story, bro. There is no X18-M yet.
yeah, 1.8-inch is what I need though
Thats what she said
