IntensaFIRE chip adds programmable / rapid fire modes to Xbox 360 controllers
The hardcore modders in attendance need not apply unless they're looking for a quick jaunt down easy street, but those terrified of solder guns, glue and screwdrivers best listen up. A newly formed company, BGRMODS, has just introduced its very product, and it's pretty much a must-have for Xbox 360 owners. IntensaFIRE is an easy-to-install chip (we're talking five minutes, tops) that modifies the Xbox 360 wireless controller in order to enable 5-mode sleeper settings (including a customizable user programmable mode) as well as a rapid-fire mode that should finally compensate for your lack of skill in Call of Duty 4. Hit the read link for the specifics on installation (trust us, there ain't much to do), and get ready to upgrade your game on September 7th for $29.99.

This is tasteless. Go ahead and post things that ruin the gaming experience for others. I didn't know Engadget supported that.
Take this down.
Anyone who endorses this product looses my respect.
Anyone who can't spell "loses" also loses mine.
The way I see it?
Who gives a crap if engadget posts an article like this -- people will find it anyway.
Ha ha. I was way off huh?
Spell check didn't catch it either. I'm ok with that.
A typo is a small mistake. Easy to do, and with good intention.
This article exists certainly out of purpose. While it may have had good intention, it's certainly misdirected. It only helps to degrade the experience for other users.
Sure, forests will burn, but do we need to go out and feed the fire ourselves?
Controlled burns are necessary, so yes.
Agreed that people who use modded controllers are garbage...and that promoting the sale of this is just as bad.
However, I've never really found that people who use these are that good anyway. Just because a person has shoot rapidly doesn't give them better aim or reaction time.
**has the ability to to shoot rapidly...
not all people who play video games are hard-core gamers...I love playing FPS games and I do it for the enjoyment and relaxation. The most frustrating part of playing a game for enjoyment is when a level gets so difficult that you just can't get past that Boss, so you just give up and go onto a new game. This has happened to me on several games..
And when I've completed a game on all the levels I wish to play, I enjoy playing with cheats on some of the games...it adds a new fabric to the gameplay. Nothing like walking down the street in GTA with infinite ammo and god mode on! YeeHah! bring it on! Dropping helis like flies and blowing up cars and not a scratch on me! Now *THAT'S* fun! I think that this mod would be quite helpful in GoW and GoW2...nothing wrong with more firepower!
Ed
Unfortunately Ed, People who get this mod aren't using it for offline. I do agree that for the use you described there really isn't much of an issue, but people insist on using it to cheat online.
I wonder if I can find a way to make this work with Street Fighter IV....
lol

SHAME ON YOU ENGADGET. Seriously, I have lost a LOT of respect for you with this post. Darren Murph, you are a complete idiot for posting this. The actual LICENSED "turbo controllers" that Microsoft supports DO NOT ALLOW TURBO ON THE TRIGGERS. Only the bumpers and face buttons. Do you know why? So people don't CHEAT on shooting games like Call of Duty.
Go to Hell Darren, especially with your "it's a must-have" comment. Go rot in Hell.
Chances are, I'm still gonna destroy you with your crap modded controller. You might get a gold gun faster (probably not since you can't aim to save your life), but I'll still end up with K/D that destroys yours. Have fun wasting your money.
oh man, the man with the golden gun mode....
I miss goldeneye, when instead of having to go online with internet people, you have friends over and actually talked in real life, and said things like
"YOUR LOOKING YOUR LOOKING! YOUR CHEATING!! STOP CHEATING!!!"
oh wait...
nevermind....
what a bunch of cry babies... only people who bitch about rapid fire are people who suck. I dont care if you have rapid fire or not.. I still pwn you without it, and it doesnt even help anyone that can actually play the game, becuase it is only effective in core and everyone knows real gamers play hardcore :P
PS i will pwn u in core too... without Rapid Fire
Internet tough guy, huh?
Grow up.
When people (rarely) do this kind of thing on the PC, all they get is a few eye rolls and a kick from the admin. Why is it so tempting for the console player?
Because in most console games you don't have the ability to kick them.
I hate playing against cheaters with modded controllers. Cheaters are gamers who have no skill and use these mods to make up for their lack of skills.
This is why I don't play online.
You disappoint me, Engadget. There was no need to report this and REALLY no need to praise it V__V
this is why i don't bother playing games online anymore
Online gaming with people you know is usually a good experience. It's only ruined by people who trash talk and use cheats/mods/glitches like this one. It's quite sad really.
I wonder if Hitler played fair...
All Source engine games give the user the ability to script anything to their liking button-wise. This is really no different. Everyone whining here needs to put a sock in it. I bet you had an autofire controller for SNES or PSX back in the day!
FOR OFFLINE USE, Not for cheating against real people online.
vgcrepairs.com will have them for sale also

All it takes is 1 Patch to limite the fire-rate in COD.
Don't complain about Engadget reporting this fine piece of hardware, just start a petition and send the result to the publisher or the developer. It's clearly a flaw on the developers end, i don't think some of those handguns can fire at the rate they allow.
World at War already has this patch,
Not so sure about COD4 tho....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyipV03stDQ
watch this link and tell me again that that handguns can't fire fast..
I may be a geek. But I'm still raised in a family of hunters.
Plus I play paintball. With an E-grip i get a firerate of around 25 balls a second.
I still think this mod is a cheat the second you go online with it.
What you do offline with it doesn't matter to me.
Although IMHO it kinda "taints" the achievements you may get.
And before any of you start grumbling. Yes I have used an autofire controller, on my Atari 2600.
i still whip ass at cod4.
The speed at which you can fire should be capped by the god damn game. There is NO reason a patch cooked up in 10 minutes (compile time included) shouldn't have been released already.
But better yet, let all the tweens spend their parents' money on this crap and render it useless later.
i am annoyed by people using modded controllers they almost always are garbage players but they do annoy me with steady aim and full auto g3 (granted the real firearm full auto) or in last stand. It is the developers fault for not fixing the problem though. These guns should not become more accurate the faster and more you fire them you would not be able to control them, but they will not fix it do to them focusing on MW2 hopefully they have resolved the issues from the first one with out creating new and bigger ones in the second
Is all there is to Call of Duty who can mash a button faster? If so, that's pretty horrible game design. If not, why are people getting their panties in a bunch over this?
Am I the only person to have noticed that the box art for this piece of trash features a human hand with six fingers?
Obviously, their target demographic is the 18-24 mutant crowd.
Thats the D-Pad but I can see it being easy to mistake, the fingers have black outlines tho.
obviously meant to say left control stick.
People who use this crap should be banned, period. Tell yourself whatever you want, it's still cheating, regardless of how negligible you try to argue the advantage is.
I see a common response by several people in this thread, and I'd like to point a few things out. Just some food for thought.
To those who's basic opinion is "Those who are complaining suck anyways"....maybe you're correct, maybe you're not, but so what? Not everyone who plays COD play to be the best of the best. Some people want to play just to have FUN. Crazy, I know, but true. And those people who are already at a disadvantage against those who play regularly and competently are now at even more of a disadvantage not simply because of a lack of skill but because of a technical hack in widespread use. Please try to have a more open mind for the people complaining about this. Just because you may be a better player doesn't mean they don't have a valid point. Try to respect it.
When it comes to the problem of game hacks, you also have the problem of escalation. Eventually someone comes up with a completely game breaking hack and NO ONE is having fun at that point. Does anyone besides me remember things like this happening, in say, Halo 2? The first hacks that came out were pretty innoculous, but then Angerwound came along and by the time that game was in it's prime people were running at super speed, forcing other players to spawn in the same physical location over and over and over while auto-sniping them in the face as they appeared on the map. Or simply booting a player from the game for no reason other than that they could. All of this was done with a fairly simple, inexpensive chip that could be installed in a few minutes with no technical skill required, and the ability to follow a couple simple directions and pictures easily found on the internet. Hell, if you put a little effort into it you could do it with a software hack and not even need to buy the chip in the first place, so there was a $0 cash outlay.
I'd like to propose a little thought experiment, and the forthcoming analogy may be a little ridiculous, but the concept is relevant and I'm sure you'll see my point. Suppose you're a professional baseball player, and another player on another team comes up with a special machine, we'll call it the "Auto-Hitter". The Auto-Hitter basically swings the bat lets says 30 times per second and the human hitter doesn't have to do anything but stand at the plate. Now, sometimes the pitcher manages to get the ball past the Auto-Hitter, but a certain percentage of time the Auto-Hitter connects with the baseball, and EVERY time it does it's a home-run. To make matters worse...for whatever reason the powers that be either cannot or will not do something about this machine to outlaw it, and so it remains in play every game. Would you, as a person who does not have this wonderful machine, keep quiet, not complain, and simply deal with it, or would you raise holy hell to everyone in earshot? I'm curious to see some responses.
Easy as 123 report.
Hack the planet!
But... cheaters do suck. I applaud Engadget for posting this, but look down on anyone who uses it online. I quit playing Mario Kart DS online due to cheaters respawning instantaneously after falling off the course. Ironically, the one time I was against a cheater in Advance Wars Day of Ruin (also on DS), I whooped his ass! Invisible infantry at every city and teleporting tanks - no problem!
i said this on my forum-this is much more the developers' fault if their games allow a pistol to exceed 2 rounds/second
The only thing that sucks about this is the online play is competitive, and we hate any 'unnatural' advantage others have. No different than the controller I had for Sega Genesis or TG-16.
"A newly formed company, BGRMODS, has just introduced its very product"
"its very product"? Maybe "its very ______ product," and it seems like you have no shortage of people who would be more than willing to fill in the blank.
i am shocked that engadget would support modding, The game devolpers have tried to put in catches that stop people from using modded controllers but with the public advertising of things like this the problem is only going to get worse. If you feel like you are bad enough to want to use a modded controller then maybe you should consider trying out an rpg or platformer instead. I hear fallout 3 is amazing and dont forget turtles in time was just rereleased in xbox arcade.
+1 for they should remove this article. We need to contact microsoft, i bet if the big M$ told engadget to take this down they would have to comply
I don't play COD, but I was thinking of trying it out. Now that I see that the community for COD is just as lame and cheating as the CS community was, I think I'll avoid it and leave it to the losers who get off on teenagers being jerks online.
Im all for this. Allot of time effort money and engineering went into this. It is the best solution on the market, reasonably priced considering the ease of install. I will add , Radioshack has brand new wireless controllers on sale for 39.99. Sales on Microsoft items are rare so its worth a mention.
Happy Gaming.
