iriver E30 shows love for the lossless, long-winded
It ain't too much different than the E50 and E150, but considering that iriver felt it necessary to label it a score less than the former, it's new to us. Introduced today over in the Far East, this pocket-friendly PMP touts a 1.8-inch color display (220 x 176), a user-customizable equalizer and support for MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, FLAC and MJPEG files. Oh, and it can purportedly keep the tunes flowing for 52 frickin' hours without needing a recharge, so those with trouble locating AC outlets should certainly take notice. There's no mention of a price or release date, but both of those tidbits should become crystal clear soon. Very soon.[Via The MP3 Players]

i prefer to use nokia 5800, haha, because i only have it, idont have enough money to buy the other music player, with n 5800 i have cellphones and musicplayer in one gadget

blogs are not the place to promote your site, unless it is a site specifically related to the blog topic.
Does the 5800 play lossless audio?
This is where the little asterisk comes in.
*52 hour playtime based on 128kbps MP3 files at low volume on earbud headphones with screen off
@iPoop
I hope you were being sarcastic. I hope.
@iJames99
What was your first clue... the "insert_praise_here" or the name iPoop?
haha :D
youre so right
and that name ipoop so reminds me of iPoo ....
just by browsing through some comments I always see him bashing about ipod ... what a poor guy ..
Isn't higher bitrate = lower CPU-strain? Due to the level of compression?
I wouldn't say so. More data has to be read and processed, so I wouldn't be surprised if higher bitrates mean higher power consumption. Also, low bitrate only means more data has been left away. It hasn't been compressed better. Furthermore, this thing also plays FLAC etc., which may use more CPU power to process. At least Ogg Vorbis reduces battery life quite a bit, I am a bit surprised that it isn't mentioned. An iriver without Ogg Vorbis?
As far as I know a higher bitrate mp3 will take slightly more power to process but should only have a minor impact. However Flac files do take more processor power the higher the compression as they have to decompress on the fly.
"...but should only have a minor impact."
Not so sure about that... I rip at 320 and I find it has a MAJOR impact when I play 320 albums rather than 128 albums.
well i prefer listening to all my music in high quality (preferably @320) and it does make a pretty good difference on my ipod/mp3 player's battery life. despite the fact that i listen to music constantly, my players always hold up for the whole day on a full charge. i guess the extra battery life will be useful for people who forget to charge; but really what i like about this is the fact that other companies may want to start upgrading their device's battery life to compete.
competition = great.
It says this thing will have 2 GB of memory...which is okay if you're not using FLAC files. That's just 4 albums.
more 'built-to-last-warranty-then-dispose-of-and-upgrade' units with non-removable batteries limited to 300-500 charges before severely reduced battery life sets in?
As a Cowon D2 owner, I say, "welcome to 2006."
Wait. This probably doesn't even have an SD slot. So perhaps I was premature in that welcome.
this looks v med. i might get this v med mp3 if the v med price goes down. but if the v med price doesn't go down the v med mp3 might become a not-so-v med mp3 after all.
and that won't be v med.
