Logitech Wireless Desktop MK700 'cradles your fingers,' caresses your soul
There's just something about a keyboard that promises to "cradle our fingers" that gets us all hot and bothered, and right or wrong, we just can't stop thinking about what a joy it must be to bang out dissertations, love letters and Nigerian scam emails on one of the beauties shown above. Logitech's Wireless Desktop MK700 is a two-piece kit comprised of an LCD-equipped keyboard and an ergonomic mouse with built-in hyper-scrolling. Both devices seem to go easy on the juice, with the keyboard able to run for three years on a single set of AA cells and the mouse for 12 months. The included USB dongle certainly isn't as diminutive as the company's recently released Unifying Receiver, but need we remind your digits just how pleasured they'll be when pressing these keys? It'll be $99.99 to get in, and it ought to ship out this month. The full release is after the break.
Logitech Announces Logitech Wireless Desktop MK700
Logitech – Aug. 12, 2009 – Because comfort and productivity should go hand in hand, Logitech today announced the Logitech® Wireless Desktop MK700. This low-profile keyboard features concave Logitech® Incurve keys™ that position your fingers properly, and their softly rounded edges invite your fingertips to glide from key to key. And to make sure you won't skip a beat while typing, an integrated LCD dashboard keeps you in touch with the status of important keyboard functions. The mouse is gently contoured for a natural fit and has a scroll wheel that gives you a choice between hyper-fast and precise click-to-click scrolling. With a battery life of up to three-years for the keyboard and 12-months for the mouse, the MK700 practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. The Logitech Wireless Desktop MK700 is expected to be available in the U.S. in August for a suggested retail price of $99.99 (U.S.).

are these keyboards what heaven is like????????
If by heaven you mean hell then yes, yes they are.
WTF is up with the "F" keys, could they make then any smaller and perhaps make the space between F8 & F9 a couple of dick lengths longer?
100 buck is kind of expensive
Amen!
LOGITECH IS COMING OUT WITH A MILLION THINGS.
Squeezebox Boom 2 Pleeaaasssse!
Squeezebox just looks awesome!
I thought the keyboard's batteries lasting for three years was a big deal, but I you guys just mention it like it's normal. :\
Same here...
Yep i think $100 is too much for just a "magical" keyboard & mouse.... it looks nice & has some neat features but i could spend that $100 on Arkham Asylum's Limited Edition for the PS3 ;-)
No nano receiver?
Shame this is right handed specific. Not fair for us lefties to buy the whole package when I already have the excellent Logitech MX610.
Does this include their new all-in-one receiver ?
did u bother to read the post?
the battery life is very impressive, but I'll stick to the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000. It has a true, ergonomic design, with a 14 degree gable, a split keyboard and natural arc and the real deal is the 7 degree reverse slope of the palm rest. For serious keyboarders (not gamers or surfers), or people with RSI, it's simply superior. The mouse has plenty of programmability (as does the keyboard). I'm sure this is better than a regular keyboard, but it isn't a true, ergonomic keyboard.
Serious keyboarders use DAS keyboards, or similar keyboards made specifically for touch typists.
Are those illuminated keys? If so I'm getting this.
Better forget it. Battery life time would be closer to 3 hours than 3 years.
Battery life would not be 3hrs, what are you basing this on? magical nonsense.
I've yet to see a performance Logitech wireless KB or mouse that uses AA/AAA last less than 6 months in battery life.
I have 50% discount on my next Logitech purchase (I love their support and RMA service!) and will be looking at something nice and wireless to buy....maybe this!
i still fail to see the appeal of this keyboard. what's so special besides the weird hump along the top housing the superfluous buttons and lcd screen?
what's the target market aside from people who think things with more buttons = more complicated = 1337?
maybe i'm just getting old? or is this "gamer oriented"? cuz i just dont see any evidence of enhanced productivity over any standard 104-key.
I agree. I miss the days when a keyboard was just a keyboard, instead of a "command centre". I am liking the keys on this one, at least from the description - if they were to release a simpler version with those keys I'd get it.
It seems to me one of these wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo kits would make a great "Engadget Recession Antidote."
Whatever happened to those? Did the recession end with nobody telling me????
I'm hard pressed to find anything I *don't* like about this keyboard, and that's a rare thing. Killers for me are backslash on the backspace line, wonky insert/delete/home/end/pgup/pgdown placement, half-sized arrow keys, F-keys that aren't keys (buttons) or that are grouped in weird combos that aren't 4/4/4.
Sounds picky, but it's been almost impossible to find a keyboard by logitech like that in recent memory. I will miss my volume wheel, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
I'm just glad they've reverted to the standard Insert and Delete layout.
I completely agree. That is the most aggravating thing about the Wave. Other than that, I love it.
YES!!!! Couldn't agree more. Now as a personal preference...Volume Wheel please! Those 2 things have stopped me from upgrading from my ancient but perfect MX Duo.
"I'm wishing on a star..."
Well... I've got a Logitech MX 5500, well above $100, and I have to say... the keyboard (MK700 is pretty much the same keyboard as the MX5500, just isn't bluetooth and has a better LCD display) DOES cradle your fingers and caress your soul.
I used a good old MS Desktop Optical Elite keyboard/mouse set for years and the typing experience on the MX5500 has been described as mushy by some but it actually is kind of sexy, for a keyboard at least. The key moldings are a lot different than your traditional keyboard, because they're more flat on top with extra space between keys. But the key travel really is amazing. It's also much more quiet than a lot of keyboards I've used.
Disappointed it's not in bluetooth though. I'd LOVE to have battery life like this new one - having to recharge a mouse on a cradle sucks. And half a year battery life for a keyboard also isn't great, even if it is bluetooth.
I miss my old IBM keyboard from 80's! The one with the real clicky keys. That was the best keyboard ever.
Now, if it was a wireless keyboard and TRACKBALL, I might be interested.
it 'cradles your fingers, caresses your soul'??
For $100, it better 'stoke my c*ck'
Um, this isn't new. I'm typing this on a Logitech Wave keyboard. Completely contours to the shape of your hands. Bought it like, several years ago. $90. It's wireless, has ridiculous battery life (I've changed the batteries maybe twice?), multimedia controls, all that jazz. And no one realized that this new keyboard is just a rehash, with a slightly different design and an LCD readout. Mine is also a keyboard/mouse combo, but I use a MX600 mouse instead of the bundled. It just feels nicer. Welcome to the future of keyboarding!...that's been here for a while.
