Razer preys on unsuspecting StarCraft fanboys, teases new mouse, keyboard and headset
We wouldn't go so far as to say that Razer is taking a note from the teasers over at Voodoo, but the gaming accessory outfit is definitely hoping to play on the emotions of anxious StarCraft fanatics. With the long (long!) awaited sequel finally nearing release, Razer has decided to link up with Blizzard in order to develop a new mouse, keyboard and headset designed specifically to cater to future StarCraft II gamers. For now, all we have to go on is the image above and whatever our imagination deems fit for believing, but we suspect all will be revealed when Blizzcon kicks off later this month. You can hardly wait, huh?

Still won't beat my trusty ol' DeathAdder, no matter how many lazors or DPI they can pack in.
I really wish my DeathAdder worked as well as most people's seem to. My wheel was f***ed out of the box (misregisters scrolls and clicks about 20% of the time), sent it back twice, and they were never able to fix it. I just gave up, it wasn't worth the hassle and shipping costs.
That's ok, I'll be getting a Xai a month or two after release, after I'm able to read into the reactions a bit. Unfortunately my MX518 finally died, so I'm stuck using the DeathAdder until then.
Ditto.
Mine the clicks seem to be all screwy. Especially when clicking and dragging things, it will release it halfway.
The trackings also kind of wonky.
Starcraft FTW!
if they really wanted to make this work, they should release all three peripherals bundled with the game and then release the stand alone game a week or more later. It would be a jerk move but it would generate sales.
Hey you know what they could do? They could release just the headset first, and make gamers wait for the other two peripherals, releasing them as "expansion packs", and then they could sell each peripheral in several versions to make the most money off of OH WAIT..
Starcraft II... Coming soon in 5 years...
Starcraft 2 is the new Duke Nukem
plus another 5 years for LAN support
Well, I have a razer mouse. Not for gaming but because it was on sale. It really does work great for my laptop.
Shouldn't they come out with the game first?
Diablo 3 keyboard?
Looking forward to the release of D3
I predict $150 for all 3.
I dont even think professional SC players use these "gaming" keyboards and mice.
They use whatever they're comfortable with. If a professional player bought one of these mice and felt comfortable with it, I don't see why he wouldn't use it for professional play, with the only possible disadvantage of looking generic because so many regular players will have them.
Hey Razer,
I don't want another keyboard to clutter my desk.. I want you to finish fixing the drivers and firmware for the N52te.. You remember that? The device you got all hot and bothered with Belkin over, then dropped the ball on the software side? Yeah. The hell with another 101-key plank, I want my left-hand commander fixed!!
man, i just updated my hardware last week in anticipation for starcraft 2 the day before they announced it was being delayed till 1st half of 2010. ugh.

Thats all fine and dandy, if my mouse wasnt over a year old and the label wasnt so worn that you can't even read the serial number.
I think I have the box somewhere though.
BTW, I do have to give you guys mad props for your Barracuda headset.
Amazing sound, comfortable as hell. This pair seems quite a bit durable than my first pair. Hope it lasts, as I didn't get the Best Buy replacement plan this time. :3
Razer is, imo, the "breath of fresh air" company in the computer gaming peripheral industry.Their products are daring and innovative, and I just love to use them. My first razer mouse was a copperhead, then I´ve upgraded to a DeathAdder and haven´t looked back. Im on my second DA now and own 2 of their goliathus mats. Awesome stuff.I´ve recently bought a Lycosa, and despite it having some issues I consider severe, razer is helping me replace it.
What it needs to improve to really hit more mainstream audience is to increase the build quality of its products, maybe hold back new products a bit instead of shipping them early and with bugs that sometimes take a couple of firmware releases to fix. I believe however that these are signs of a young company getting more mature, so I expect razer to be one of the big names in the future.
Other than that, I really really hope that the new mouse will be optical, with 5 or more buttons and right-handed design. I still haven´t tried a single laser mouse that´s flawless and actually better than an optical one.
