Mysterious Android touchscreen MID pics surface, Charles Fort notified

It sure seems like the world is ready for an Android MID or, until it gets one, rumors and leaks to that effect. Tell us, what do you make of a slate-style device featuring the word "android" in the appropriate font, pics of the thing browsing the web (which, truth be told, look just as real as they could be 'shopped in), a couple perfunctory specs (Rockchip CPU, somewhere between a 4.3 to 5-inch display, 3G, MSN Messenger and GTalk, WiFi) and a source for the images that fails to cough up names / links to the "handful" of Chinese tech sites that are allegedly all a-buzz about this thing? Well, we don't know either -- but if you do get your hands on one of these guys, send it our way, will you? Thanks -- and in the meantime, hit that read link for the whole sordid tale (and a couple choice pics).

I said it looks like an apple product. As in, it could pass as an apple product. As in, it looks similar to iphone etc. So my comment was more to the point "like a rip off of an apple product." Not of something in particular.
Besides, China is always trying to build stuff ahead of apple releases - almost like mocks. For example, the iphone nanos etc. I mean they assemble and junk over there, so maybe they are trying to copy? You know?
Get the idea behind the comment now? Do you agree the bezel looks like an iPhone? Or the trim looks apple-ish?

The real question is, does it work well or have they just slapped in smartphone Android and that's it.

Knowing china.... probably slapped on.... HOWEVER, rockchip is a powerful chip...
I've been wanting an Android device but something that's not a phone, so more of these type of products is welcome. I already carry too many phones as it is due to work, but there's always room in my bag and my heart for another gadget =D

yup it run's android.
The SmartQ Q5 looks nice, very pocketable, but slow in standard config running Ubuntu. It'd be great to see if it would be any faster running Android. All you really want something like this for is web and email anyway...

Looks awesome but not sure I'd have much use for something that size. I find myself using a laptop MUCH less since I've had an iPhone, which for me is just the right size as you can easily have it with you at all times. WOuld be awesome to have things like this in your kitchen though for recipes and TV!

The picture seems fake. You can tell because right when the android logo is shown you can see a much darker background and the reflection somehow goes around the logo? I don't think so!
Grease prints or Art... thingies... Whats the word... Decal?
Archos was my first thought--and first hope. Can't wait til September 15!
Something's gotta give people. So now we're supposed carry Zunes, iPhones, Laptops, Tables and Netbooks?
