Apple tablet pic 'leaked': this is the real one, we can feel it
Throw away everything you thought you knew about the truth. This is the one. We can't wait to stuff one awkwardly into the fake keyboard tray of our fake MacBook Micro and live life just how Apple rumor sites have always wanted us to live it. Granted, Nowhere Else has gotten some pretty great scoops in the past, so we won't rule anything out just now. The pic above lines up pretty well with all the rumors we've heard so far -- which sort of helps and sort of hinders its veracity in our eyes. Nowhere Else isn't calling it either way, if that helps you in your soul search for the truth. Another pic is after the break.
Update: Eagle-eyed tipster Terry points out that the "Welcome" graphic is an easy spot on Google Image Search, with that exact configuration and timing of converging letters from Leopard's intro video showing up in the very first result. Try it for yourself! Not a good sign, folks.
Update 2: Definitely faked.

I'm excited.
What is the big deal with this thing? How will it be useful in ways that any other gadget we already have isn't?
Because it's made by Apple, and it will sell sell sell.
Your supposed to say "I jizzed my pants".
Now MikeZ you know good and well Apple can't get $100 for a turd...$85 maybe but that's tops.
@Poo_and_Wee
Just like apple tv
*wink*wink*
Real or not - It looks stupid. One tiny little button under a fat ugly screen.
does no one else see that the border looks A LOT like the one from the 1st gen ipod touch
@Poo_and_Wee
Because, obviously, Steve Jobs is using is mind control field to force us to buy Apple products...
Judging by the shadow amount and comparing it to Nokia e51's 12mm-thick body, I can easily say that this Apple tablet will come in a 16mm - 18mm thick body.
Looks pretty decent. If its thin enough, it will be the (pure)tablet that PC vendors have tried to make for years but have failed at every time.
However, if this doesn't run full OSX (which, in turn, will likely be Intel based and can be loaded with any other OS), this thing will go unwanted. A larger version of an iPod Touch is useless.
I personally hope they make one. We all know what happens to everyone else's game when Apple releases a product. They all seem to get their shit in gear.
For the right price and taking into account it satisfies the above, I would definitely get one.
Oh, and it needs to be capacitive (a given) and needs to support a stylus (ala HTC's recent patent). A tablet without handwriting recognition would be stupid. Jotting down notes using a pen is what I have always liked about PC based tablets. Not to mention, given this form factor (10" screen), it would be much easier to take something down via pen than via an on screen keyboard.
@Tankgunk
The force does work with weak minded peapple.
Wait, I mean people.
The second picture shows a beautifully designed, practical mobile device... and a fake Apple product.
personally I don't like tablets. The idea of walking around with a slab of plastic bigger than your face doesn't appeal to me, no matter who made it. Also I hardly ever bring my laptop to class anyways. I guess it might be useful to arts students but when I bring my lappy to class it's usually to play rollercoaster Tycoon.
which this thing probably couldn't do :(
This isn't it. It's too ugly. For one thing, there is too much margin space between where the LCD ends and the edge of the device.
I don't think there will be an Apple tablet but I do belive there will be a EBook reader with some extra features not found on other EBooks at the moment.
@ J S
Your an idiot. It's probably a prototype and not the finished product.
@Glenn, are you forgetting the early adopters? Apple certainly doesn't. They don't reward them much, but they remember them
This is not real its fake fake fake. One reason id one of them photos taken with a cell phone in the picture as well.. hmm if i was apple i would have a iPhone there not a freaking nokia haha!! I could be wrong but i dont see this being a apple product it does not have that apple style to it plus its just to quick to be the real deal. i am excited though!!!
It's going to have a stylus!
@tankgunk - it's called PR/Marketing dumbass
kam:
Most people call it bullshit though.
Looks like 1st gen iPod Touch that streched and wider. the only difference is this thing running leopard....
I don't trust it. You know why? The site has a Trojan on it (according to Norton Toolbar).
lol, Norton
lol, toolbar
lolololol, norton toolbar
Na, this is a fake.
The Home button does not belong in that place on a tablet, neither thumb can reach it.
There is too much gap between the edge and the screen.
It's plain ugly.
Apple can never commit such crimes.
@Glenn Blanchard
$85 tops, but $15 monthly on the subscription and $30 for a family plan.
Yes, I'm gone buy one! ;-)
no i am not going to idiotically say "FIRST!". but this looks faker than flying pigs.
Good job you didn't really. And I refute that other point, I hear all over the news that swine flew.
@Ethan
I see what you did there..
Wow. It's like this website is falling apart! All the trolls are coming out of the woodwork, and there are more idiotic comments than comments actually pertaining to the article.
Also, could we get back to actual reporting? I can't tell when I should be taking something seriously or not. This is, what, the 3rd "potential" Apple product sneak peek?
Unless this is just a slow week for technology news. In which case, carry on.
Welcome to the social (web).
OMG! A product made by Apple. Guess I should want this...
It's sarcasm folks!
No, really?
Imagine having to slide your finger across the whole
bottom just to unlock the device
You know you want one..or two! I really can't think of company at any point in history that's as awesome and cool as Apple is right now. Therefore, you'll need one just to be cool, like me!
I hope it does something revolutionary like run more than one application at a time. Also it doesn't look all that great but the iFairies will love it.
First thing to go on ebay to pay for this, My first born son.
Ha ha, nice one. But should I be more excited about this because it's Apple's shiny new product or the Zune HD because it's not Apple, but MS' shiny new product??
(I'm excited about both, not that I can afford either right now ;)
@Neha I can't wait til Apple invents multitasking!
@rippinhonda
I mean, that was great. Probably the best comment I've ever seen on Engadget,
+10 points
To I detect an increased amount of sarcasm in your voice, engadget?
I am detecting a small amount of fail in your post though.
@Sam
No, that's just gas from all the excitement.
I don't really understand how you are supposed to type on it. I guess you could hold it vertically and use the onscreen keyboard like that, but horizontally, I'm not sure. Maybe they'll split the keyboard down the middle and have one half on each side of the screen?
*if it were real, that is. This looks more like three first-gen iPod touches photoshopped together. I thought that the inclusion of the leopard intro screen was kind of clever though.
It's a little weird, but even more awkward to find this photo of a MacBook with the excact same welcome screen - http://www.flickr.com/photos/tannerld/1833520519/
No dude its easy, it even comes with a strap! See, what you do is hold it under your arm and play that mother like Jimi Hendrix!
