Sure, Taiwanese HTC Magic owners might be happy today, being promised Hero's Sense UI via official channels, but thanks to the hard work from Redmond Pie deviantART member Justflikwalk, this very stylish skin has jumped species and landed on the iPhone. A jailbreak is required, but once past that hurdle, you'll get a new home page with the ever-so-classy time and weather widget -- which isn't always 73 degrees and sunny, we might add -- a quick launcher for apps / contacts, and of course some modified icons. All pertinent files for the theme and step-by-step instructions are available via the read. Care to gaze upon the awesomeness using the power of moving pictures? Video after the break.
I've been using windows 7 RC for months, it's really easy to install. No watermark either. If anyone wants to try 7 before buying it, I'd recommend it.
He's my friend and class fellow and is using Windows 7 before release because he's an MSDN Premium member like I am. That's Windows 7 RTM btw, NOT Windows 7 RC.
Trust me, when you actually install a theme like this, It's not worth it. The lack of consistency and continuity ruins the whole effect of the theme. The only reasons I jailbroke my iPhone and the reasons I will STAY jailbroken are QuickReply, qTweeter, and SBSettings.
Nope. check out the Palm Prefection theme. It actually is a little more consistent than this one. I used it but I had a problem with the Wifi/signal indicator getting in the way of the "launcher" text and it eventually made me uninstall the theme because it pissed me off so much.
LOL... Blame apple for making it more difficult with its app store rules and regulations. I guess the tides are turning. Every phone at one point or another found ways to emulate or imitate parts of the iphone UI and looks...but now it seems iphone is doing the imitation....
Its been so long, the iPhones UI is stale and people are bored. It is just a bunch of icons in a grid. Sure it was better than other things at the time, but I bet even Apple will move back to a useful home screen that gives information.
Yeah... by no means am I putting them down but if you look at home screen screenshots from 1.0, 2.0, and now 3.0 on the iPhone there is no difference ... and in this regard they have failed to innovate. It is now starting to look very bland when compared some of the competition so I have to agree with you Peter... customizable home screens and widgets are the future of smart phones... as well as multi-tasking which is another hurdle apple has to get over with iPhone.
A clumsy hack, at best -- see all the 'empty' icons wiggling on top of the clock as het rearranges the lower three icons. The way I see it: If life hands you an Apple, drink the applejuice. "Basically" he would have been better off buying a real Hero.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Awesome!
lol it looks like he's using windows 7 even before it comes out.
I use Ubuntu as my daily OS but I've been running Windows 7 on a spare hard drive and it's pretty nice.
So?
+1 for iphone in my book, i hated the look of the previous UI
oh wait...-2 for having to jailbreak phone to make it better.
Other then the even more proof of battery life. He turns it on and it's at like 10%!
i not bashing windows i just pointed that out to state that no matter how hard microsoft tries is OS always get pirated.
that iphone theme looks nice also. i don't no why apple doesn't support widgets on its phone but implements them on there computers.
You do know ANYONE can use Windows 7 before it comes out, right? Like here...

jay jay:
Heard of the Windows 7 RC? It's free. It's legal.
@jay jay
It's not like the beta has been available since what, February?
And, before anyone says it, removing the watermark in the desktop isn't that hard.
Engadget, I think the "Highest Ranked" code has bug:

I have 4 words.
YOU
CAN'T
POLISH
SHIT.
Anyway, carry on.
@switchbitch:
You're absolutely right. Sense UI doesn't belong on the iphone.
He's my friend and class fellow and is using Windows 7 before release because he's an MSDN Premium member like I am. That's Windows 7 RTM btw, NOT Windows 7 RC.
That looks perfect. Please Apple please!
Yeah, you'd have an easier time convincing them to stop censoring apps. Lol.
$kevinm: Hmm, did you mean "Please, Apple, please!" or "Please Apple, please!" ? Because those two are quite different, you know!
For the first time, iPhone users do not believe that they have the best UI. This effort by Redmond Pie proves it.
As an iPhone owner since 1st gen, all I have to say is ..........REALLY?
Backgrounds do what? Show me a pic when I hit the home button?
......Really? I cant have my own background?
Jerks.
LOLWHAT?
That does look really good. It sucks having to jailbreak your iPhone to enjoy features like this.
What good is an iPhone if it isn't jailbroken?
Maybe with the next version of the iphone will be open and allow you to install whatever you want. :)
Cha! Any monkeys might fly outta my butt!
@OneLove
OneLove has more chances.

that looks pimp
I've been good about not jailbreaking my iphone, but that is tempting.

is this the first real imitation of another phone on the iphone?
sweet.
Nope. check out the Palm Prefection theme. It actually is a little more consistent than this one. I used it but I had a problem with the Wifi/signal indicator getting in the way of the "launcher" text and it eventually made me uninstall the theme because it pissed me off so much.

so I have to agree with you Peter... customizable home screens and widgets are the future of smart phones... as well as multi-tasking which is another hurdle apple has to get over with iPhone.
The iPhone's homescreen/launcher always reminded me of the Palm OS homescreen/launcher...
Hell, even the "dock" of fixed icons reminds me of the physical buttons one usually sees underneath the screen on a Palm OS device.
I don't know if i'd use the big clock, but I love the at-a-glance weather, and I could use a calendar page listing today's events...
That's what she sai...o wait I misread ur comment!
iphones are so good they're ripping off htc ui's LMAO
*lol* This was fan made *endlolcommunique*

Thats why we're on the internet, to keep our ignorant comments to ourselves.

Three words. iTunes app store. That's why he's better off with an applephone.
One word.... Cydia! O.O

His ignorant and useless yet highly ranked comments?
it says 74° :p
Gentlemen(?), commence the lawsuits.
How? This isn't exactly officially officially sanctioned by Apple.
