NVIDIA confirms Tegra processor within Zune HD, details it real good
It's no big secret that NVIDIA's potent Tegra chip will be powering Microsoft's forthcoming Zune HD, but up until now, the former company had been rather quiet about its involvement in the project. Just a few days after the OLED-equipped portable media player went up for pre-order around the web, NVIDIA has stepped in to affirm that its own Tegra processor will be "providing the multimedia muscle in Zune HD." We're told that no fewer than eight independent processors make up Tegra's collective whole, with each one engineered for a specific class of tasks; among them are an HD video processor, an audio processor, a graphics processor and two ARM cores. Each of the chips can work together or independently to minimize power consumption, and the built-in nPower technology is said to optimize system power use and enable extended HD video / MP3 playback time. Sounds good in print, but we've got just under a month to find out how it performs for real.

Ditto. I watch/listen to a lot of podcasts on my Zune 120 & a small integrated speaker would be handy in some situations. It's a pain when I have to plug it into speakers or headphones when I just want to show someone a good 2 minute Onion News video.
sounds similar to what CELL is.
Looks really cool this Zune HD. I am really looking forward to get one in my hands and see if it´s so good as they say. Let see what Apple can offer next september with the new Ipods... Now Microsoft is in a good position to fight with Apple´s product.
Did you read your own link? The dollar share was 13%; the market share was 9%. I say "was" because the article is from 2006. Right now there isn't even close to one Zune for every six or seven iPods.
This kinda sucks. I want one really badly, and I don't want to wait, but i also kinda want it in a color although the black looks nice. I am debating whether or not to pre-order one in black, or wait for the red one. But i am definatly getting one of these instead of an ipod touch. The apps don't make up for the extremely laggy speed and horrible sound playback. I love the oled screen on this also. I am really excited for one, and it thank that it will be really smooth and fast due to the tegra processer.
So, i just pre-ordered the 32 gig platinum one, it better be worth it :]
Nvidia's new Tegra processor has already garnered a lot of attention due to its place powering the Zune HD. Now Nvidia has announced that the Samsung M1 media player also packs a Tegra HD mobile processor. Considering the M1 also packs an AMOLED screen and offers 720p HD video playback, it appears to be right on par with the Zune HD now. Visit http://www.i4u.com/article26765.html for more info.
