HTC's Leo-bound TouchFlo 3D 2.6 lovingly demonstrated
No, that's not a Hero up there. That's an image of the latest version of HTC's TouchFlo 3D, destined for inclusion on the company's next Windows Mobile smartphone -- likely the fabled Leo we've been hearing about oh so much over the past few days. pocketnow.com has posted a walkthrough of the UI, which looks lovely and clean and is a solid step up over previous revisions. It even runs quite well on this Touch Diamond2 it's been installed to, meaning performance should be incredibly snappy on the Leo if its hardware is as solid as is rumored. There's still no confirmation from HTC about any new hardware, but until that comes (it shouldn't be long, now) you can enjoy the enthusiastic video after the break.

Can't wait till this puppy gets ported to Experia. Running an earlier version now.
That looks very impressive. I can't wait to see what the whole deal is with the Leo...
I'm using WM6.5 and TF3D 2.1 on my HTC Diamond (original version) and it is amazing, especially the Facebook integration to contacts and the overall finger-friendliness of the UI. This version of TF3D looks even better, but I am really looking forward to the Leo with Snapdragon and a huge screen.
Does it really matter? Windows Mobile has died as far as market is concerned.
Already lost interest after seeing the demo being done with a stylus. What's the point of TOUCHFlo?
You fraking twit... did you even watch the video? That's one amazingly finger-like stylus he's using.
I actually haven't had to use a stylus on my Diamond2 since I bought it a month ago or so. TouchFlo is actually pretty awesome for finger navigation to the 99% of features you need daily (calling, texting, calendar etc...).
Did we watch the same video? Unless you think the guy used a orange, fat, finger shaped stylus, then yeah.
I thought he said this one is capacitive... which means there won't be a stylus... which means you made that up, original poster!
*yes, I know there are capacitive styli, but nobody has them, because they are currently useless.
Yeah looks pretty tidy. If they drop this in a phone with a snapdragon cpu and a cpacitive touch screen this could actually be a useful touch based WinMo phone.
This pig with lipstick is looking more and more beautiful everytime I see her. Wish they'd make that clock just a wee bit smaller though.
On al version of touchflo you've been able to reduce the size of the clock either in the settings, or more recently, by swiping up. It's very easy.
I'm running 6.5 TF3D 2.1 and I don't see any options to resize the clock (I'd like mine bigger) and the swipe up feature has been present since TF3D v1. If you can enlighten me that'd be cool.
A nice, minor, upgrade to the UI. Seems as fast as the current version (on Diamond2).
For me, not worth a complete flash, but if not required, I might look into upgrading to this version of TouchFlo.
If HTC lets me to do so, of course ;)
Why would depend on HTC to make it happen rather than doing it yourself by flashing a new rom that would have this included?
Now we need a leaked WinMo 7... even though 6.5 is looking good!!
I agree... they are admittedly getting more out of 6.5 than I thought they would... it's looking nicer and nicer with each new unit and custom UI. Though, I'm still more curious about WM7.
The other video linked on the site is even better, It shows a new Photo album and Music app (is has a cloverflow-like interface when the Phone is tilted)
Looks very slick
This looks awesome. I was waiting for a Palm Pre GSM to be released in Aust but there still is no date set and my back up was a WinMo more likely a Diamond2 or when the 6.5 phones get released.
Think it's worth getting a Diamond2 then upgrading the OS or just getting a 6.5.
Still no sign of landscape support sadly...
There are several apps that allow you to put the touchflo3d interface into landscape at any point you wish!
it will be good to have demo on other applications like wifi, mesaging and other configuration. Coz that's where the UI fails on WM. I hate those UIs that need stylus ..:(
Props to HTC for their work on TouchFLO and their new Sense UI. Those guys seem to enjoy coming up with "own" concepts, it does not stop with the skinning->e.g. facebook integration into TouchFlo and Sense all deserve the credit!
If the Leo comes to Sprint, I might wait for that. I was eying the Hero, but the Leo's hardware might be too good to pass up.
If I were Microsoft I would buy HTC and can the WM interface team. This interface is beautiful.
+1
that would be the best move they could ever make for the phone product line. just let HTC design Winmo phones and keep it standardized.
Why? Users can flash their ROM's and load any interface they want. I actually prefer my 6.5 Titanium build to the TF3D. What makes WinMo great is that you aren't locked into a single UI.
Android = Sense UI
WINMO = TF3D
Understand?
I kinda preferred the earlier, black/silver/lime green color scheme over this more colorful version. Also, the clock-weather hybrid thingy looks overly crowded imho...
But other than that it looks nice. Pretty smooth too, especially considering that it's not even running on target hardware.
Omg, they killed touchflo 3D! It looked much better when it was basic colours such as black and white and the odd colour here and there. Also, if you guys knew the radius of my colossal index finger, you would know that the home screen is way too crowded.
It only looks crowded because it's not on the device it's mean to be on. The HTC Leo is supposed to have a 4.3" screen compared to the TouchDiamond2's 3.3" screen that's a whole extra inch (that's what she said/) keep that in mind, on the Leo it will be a lot more spacious.
The Leo is shaping up to be the greatest phone ever released.
The specs put virtually every other phone out there to shame.
Now if only Sprint would get it sometime soon.
If Leo is everything that it is rumoured to be, then I could be looking at my 4th smartphone in the space of 18 months. Sweeeet
What do you do with all your other phones?
I sell them - wish I could keep them to develop on but alas, got to pay to tuition fees somehow
Good UI. I wonder if WM7's UI will be any better for touch.
The UI will be perfect for Leo screen
Is this the UI that will be in the WM6.5 upgrade for the Diamond2?
Touch Pro2 + snapdragon + this UI = my next phone...
this UI is pretty nice, just need more landscape support but its still beta so that will be implimented later...No one got more skills in WM device than HTC though great stuff...i want to see their Sense UI running on windows though which they say will happen in the near future...just like TouchWIZ running on all samsung touch screen...
HTC needs to dump that pathetic GPU/CPU 528mz crap.
How come in all of these videos these guys never turn off the sleep/dim screen function? Seems like you would always want that thing as bright as possible at all time.
How do I get the touchflo from diamond2 and touchpro2 to my touchhd :(
Check out XDA Developers, learn about flashing a custom rom, enjoy.
I have an htc touch HD, but I dont have the touchflo 3d that is on diamond2 or touchpro2, anyone got any ideas on how to get that on the touch hd? ** insert sarcastic comment and newbie backlash here**
woops, accidently, well nevermind
TouchFlo sucked on my HTC Fuze/ Touch Pro, so I use Spb Mobile shell. This looks like an improvement, but I'm still sticking to Spb.
Really cool! I hope it'll arrive soon in stores. If you're Dutch, you can find more information on http://www.htc-gsm.nl/htc-leo
So I have an HTC Diamond (approx 1 year old). I want to know if I can and/or should update to Touchflo 3D? If I follow the comments right, I will wait til WM 6.5 comes out, upgrade to that for sure, and then I can put on the 3D? or no....?
Also, can anyone point me in the right direction to the best forums for this phone. Thanks....
