Canon's VIXIA HF S11 HD camcorder makes its way to the USA

It's already been available in Japan for a little while now, but it looks like folks in the US will soon finally be able to get their hands on Canon's new VIXIA HF S11 HD camcorder as well. One of the biggest advantages this one has over the previous S10 model is 64GB of internal storage (or twice as much as before), which Canon assures us will let you record a full 24 hours of high definition video -- or more if you toss a few SDHC cards in your bag. You'll also be able to record full HD video in your choice of a 24p Cinema or 30p Progressive modes, capture some 8-megapixel still images, take advantage of features like face detection and a full range of manual controls, and make use of an all new RA-V1 Remote Control Adapter to pair it with various third-party remote controllers. Look for this one to hit in mid-September for $1,399.99, while the remote adapter will set you back $120.

now worth the extra money
i meant not worth the extra money.
It's worth the money if you know what you're doing.and what an F stop is
Not to mention that, once again, a camcorder manufacturer squanders picture quality so it can claim 8 MEGAPIXEL STILLS!
Instead of making a decent chip with larger (but fewer) photosites for lower noise and better low-light performance, they make this garbage.
It's just infuriating. Even if data rates creep upward, manufacturers will work hard to keep quality low.
PATHETIC.
Where is that place in the LCD?
Yea seriously... All i can say is it looks b-e-a-utiful! Although after living there for awhile, I might have eye troubles. Maybe its for people that are partially colorblind :D
I'm fairly sure that it is the island of Burano, near Venice Italy... It looked just like that when i was there.
If this means that the HF S10 comes down it price, then I'll be happy.
Save your money and get the HFS-100. Plus, you can offload the SD cards and still use the camera. Can't do that with internal memory...
Canon is SO stupid...don't they know that NO ONE can afford that kind of money to waste it on a freakin' 1080i camcorder..
Why not just buy the Sanyo FH1...has better zoom and low light performance, sells for $420, and it records 1080p 60 frames..
Canon says it can record Progressive, but it doesn't ..it's a gimmick..it is actually saved as 1080i...
fuck u canon..! kiss my ass..and in ur face no one will ever buy ur shitty camcorders...
1080i camcorders ARE OUTDATED !!
Preach it brother!!
The FH1 has enough cons that I wouldn't pick it over the Canon. If you don't have the money, sure, the Sanyo is a decent choice. But if you're only comparing formats you're missing the majority of the camera functionality.
The added features on the Canon is what seems to draw more people to them.
I have the Hf10, it records just fine in just progressive, you just have to ensure that you're in the 30p mode and that it shows up on the screen, you can choose between them all, and if you don't have it set-up properly in both the menu settings and the on-screen settings, it records in 60i.
I got a HF S100 2 months ago for $850 shipped inc tax and 3x 16GB SD cards for $60 (total) after rebate. Too much premium for the built in storage.
Agreed. The price for removable storage is just so much cheaper.
Add that you can deal with your footage independent of the camera makes it even more of a no brainer. I guess some people just don't like messing with SD cards.
Now if they add USB 3 and SDXC slot to that, it could be a contender for my next camcorder purchase.
Oh forgot to say - and drop the price to $500.
