Creative set to unveil World of Warcraft headgear at BlizzCon
The Creative Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Wireless Headset is quite a mouthful to say, and judging by the teaser image above, it'll be no less flashy to look at. Following in the footsteps of SteelSeries, Creative has put together a customized set of high-end headphones catering specifically to the millions of Warcraftsmen (has anyone used that term before, can we copyright it?) out there, who need comfortable cans for lengthy raiding sessions. They'll come in both wired and wireless flavors, and will be the first to feature THX TruStudio PC sound, which we're willing to bet makes as recognizable a difference as a butterfly flapping its wings somewhere in the Amazon. BlizzCon kicks off this Friday, so you shouldn't have to wait long to grab a pair of your own.

Are you staring at my headgear?
Now you can officially look like a dork while playing the dorkiest mmo ever made. Twelve year olds, unite!
You sir, are an idiot.
I don't even play WoW, but I can tell you that it's not really appropriate to call it a child's game.
Go ahead and call WoW players dorks, that's your opinion... but I don't think "child's game" really fits the bill.
who cares what you look like when your playing WoW...in fact, if you do care what you look like when your playing a video game, you probably don't need to be playing one...
Yeah, have some respect. These are adult dorks!
What does it matter what it looks like? The only person that ever sees a WoW player in person is when mom goes down to the basement to do laundry.
+1 for Marbles. Xtole must fall into one of the two categories...
I foresee them creating a zii based WoW tablet with built in 3G so those who are addicted to the game can play anywhere at anytime....
The sad thing is, they would sell millions if they actually made it.
Zii based? Does WoW work on Linux? (I actually don't know, never played it)
yes it does play on linux
@Mark
It does play on linux but you have to use a windows emulator to do so.
"It does play on linux but you have to use a windows emulator to do so. "
For the love of god, WINE is not an emulator! It stands for WINE IS NOT an EMULATOR for christ's sake. IT'S IN THE NAME!
@jon
Seriously? Relax buddy. I don't know much about linux. I just know you have to use a seperate program to load WoW. I apologize if i offended your linux gods with my ignorance.
sure, just like LAME ain't an MP3 Encoder? Let's see, it's a program that "emulates" a windows environment on linux. gee, that sounds just like, what's it called? oh yeah, an EMULATOR!
Must be desperate.
Does it GIVE head ?
I thought i said wierd versions not wired. I reckon wierd would of been correct.
people still play WoW?
Oh ho ho, is funny guy here!
over 11 million subscribers was the very publicly announced number in several major news stories a few months back. Headline read something like "WoW subscriptions larger than population of Ohio."
First a soda, now this. Jesus tap-dancing Christ, get out of your parents basement!
Yeah, because a gaming peripheral with a game logo on it is totally unheard of and worse than a gaming soda...
and i thought it couldn't get any worse.
Whats next Pampers WOW edition diapers? "For when natures call can't wait for the raid to end!"
Oh noes! Nerd on nerd violence!
Don't really understand what's up with everyone and saying all people that play WoW are lifeless losers who live in their parents basement. I don't play WoW myself, but it just kind of bugs me when people degrade a group for playing a certain game. Meh, my two cents.
As for the headsets, they're probably bloody expensive and the lights may become pretty annoying to some people, and if people are in a room with you as well.
my brother is a loser who plays WoW and lives in my parents basement (he is 22)
my brother's best friend is a loser who plays WoW and lives in (mostly) my parents basement (he is 23)
three or four of my old highschool friends are college drops/graduates out who play WoW and lives in parents basements (all around the age of 25)
my co-worker was a loser who played WoW and lived in his parents basement
I'm defining loser by anti-social behavior, lack of showering, lack of sun, lack of going out, lack of women (and men for one).
I know this is only 7 people, but thats 7 people I know, I'm sure a lot of people know people with the same story
but no...those allegations are completely unfounded.
I don't get offended, when people make nerd jokes at my expensive about my interest in computers, because I know plenty of guys that are, It doesn't mean you are a loser, it doesn't mean I am a nerd. If you are going to be sensitive about it stop playing WoW.
Hm...Can't fathom how people live like that. Really can't.
boo... warcraft is for 40 year old virgins in the making that stock up on hot pockets, mountain dew, and faplights in their mom's basement.
how about shipping my zii egg? now thats progress.
"Zii"?
I think you misspelled Tenga.
It's sad that I know what that is :(
It's also sad that if it wasn't for the exorbitant shipping costs from the site someone had found them on, I might have purchased them for shits and giggles.
:(
You sir, are an idiot. Let me guess - you're one of those typical zombies that follow whatever is marketed to the general population? Ok, so you bought a Wii and you dance around and swing your arms like a tard.
You know how nerdy people were back in the day when they bought a Dreamcast or Playstation? Most of the general population didn't know what they were, since games weren't advertised like they are today.
So people decide to play on online game, which involves strategy and requires competence and that makes them stupid? Yes, there are 12 year olds that get annoying, but thats what /ignore is for. There are LOTS of adults that play the game, that are NOT virgins. You're one bright kid if you think playing a video game makes you a friendless virgin that is overweight living in their mom's basement.
24 years old here, excellent job, girlfriend, not overweight, and guess what? I live in my own house in Naperville, IL. Ever heard of it? Expensive town and rated one of the best cities in the US. So don't generalize WoW players - all 7 friends in real life that play WoW with me all have girlfriends of 3+ years and only 1 still lives with his parents.
Don't be mad your mom couldn't afford to buy your new desktop so you could play WoW. You should be thankful she even pays for your cable internet. Otherwise you'd might have to apply for something to get out of your McDonalds drive through position so you could afford to get internet.
sean, your wrong, go away.
wow... its amazing how people get so worked up over a joke.
im sorry did i strike a nerve, sir? that wasn't my intention [=
when you attack the penis, certain men need to defend it...ha ha ha.
(seriously though, if you can't take nerd jokes, don't be good at using computers, if you can't take WoW jokes, don't play WoW)
For those of you that keep talking about parent’s basements
I play WOW; I’m in my 40's
My wife plays WOW she's in her 50's
My son plays wow and is 19 and doesn't live in my basement
None of the people I play with live in their parent’s basements.
Few of them are single.
None are under 19, yes my son is the youngest I game with.
Grow up and actually look at the numbers before you make an ass out of yourself and ASSUME that even the majority of players are single adolescent boys that live in their parent’s basement.
I think its funny how people talk trash about World of Warcraft as if it’s the first game to have a cult following.
If you’ve ever bothered to play video games you would know that cult followings are almost required for them. Just take a look at the following that Legend of Zelda, Mario, Sonic, Counter-Strike, Everquest, Halo, Doom, GTA, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, and countless others have had and still have. I could go on for hours listing the games that have their huge fan bases and play them as much as any WoW player does.
Personally, I’m a video game fiend so I play anything including WoW. It’s a very well designed game and it is one of the few games that actually has something for everyone. I think the only real genre of game not a part of WoW is the First Person Shooter.
As far as the topic of the article, it’s a smart move to appeal to 11 million customers. Especially since it’s a known fact they have disposable income since they are paying monthly to play a video game.
and when people make fun of me for playing video games, watching japanese cartoons, or going to adultswim pretents events, I laugh with them and say...ya I'm a big loser.
people who get defense about trash talking is why people do it in the first place. Poking fun at peoples "weird" hobbies is what people do. The fun in making fun of WoW players is that they get so worked up over it.
@Grammar
I understand that. However, a lot of people get defensive when they get stereotyped or generalized with an unsavory image. Its the reason racism is a big deal. No one wants to generalized by a misconception of who they think you are just because a small portion of your community is or acts a certain way. Before anyone tries to get uppity with me that the "Parent Basement 40-year old virgin" stereotype WoW gamers get and racism are not the same thing, it is. the only difference is that racism is on a higher level and effects every aspect of life. Stereotyping WoW gamers just lowers their self esteem. Just call it Gamerism.
That being said, i could care less if people make fun my World of Warcrack addiction. At the end of the day, i still have my family, friends to go drinking with, and a game that keeps me entertained so anything anyone says doesn't affect me.
I do care what I look like while playing video games and i definitely will not be wearing these, my white Astros look 10x better then these ever will imho. Light up headphones could be cool but i really do not want anything wow related on my headphones or mouse etc. i like the game but yikes.
Where do these drop? Is it a 10 man or 25? Normal or heroic?
+1
@Grammer Delinquent,
I play WoW and have many friends that also do so. We are all professional who make quite comfortable livings, most of us make six figure salaries. And none of us are anti-social, lack appropriate hygiene, lack sun, and only one of us lack a significant others. Have you ever though it's not WoW but the circle of people you associate with? Successful people tend to associate with other successful people while losers hang out with other losers.
Just food for thought.
Regards
shows that just because you make six figures it doesn't mean you can understand the point that I was trying to make (that point being; not to get oversensitive about jokes about a game, because techno-jokes usually have some truth to them) or know how to properly use a reply system.
My apologies GM. I've re-read your comment and yes absolutely did mis-understand them. Goes to show you, I shouldn't be responding to threads while on a conference call (I missed that end point you made...in addition to the reply to f-up.)
Anything is better than actually paying attention during a conference call IMO.
Seems to me that "Grammar Delinquent" believes that we should take verbal abuse from other people simply because it "is what people do". According to what I've read, the ideal world is where everyone takes the abuse and just keeps quiet about it.
@ Grammar Delinquent: Your attacks on an entire group of people, coupled with what you've written of your own experiences, likely stem from low self esteem. Has it occurred to you that your self esteem would be higher, and you'd be more likely to stand up for yourself against these disparaging remarks if it wasn't the "status quo" you so adamantly defend? You might even stop making these attacks yourself.
It is my deeply held belief that we should be working toward a society where these negative behaviors aren't condoned, but rather discussed and corrected.
That's my $0.02. Keep the change.
No offense, and I can appreciate what you're trying to do, but the comment section of a tech blog probably isn't the ideal place to start your crusade for a more loving society.
What is the big issue with playing wow. So what if people enjoy it. Been playing for a long time and do nto care what others say
THIS TROLL IS FULL!!
BuHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
