As much as I love Sony for updating the console and adding a cool new sparkly background to the XMB (what - I like eye candy, okay?), here's what I want you to do. That's right, I have a list of DEMANDS, Sony. Fix them immediately.
1. Allow me to customise the colour of the font when I choose a theme - there are some cool themes with light backgrounds that I cannot use because I can't see a bloody thing.
2. For the love of christ, add a media search function. I have over 3000 songs transferred to my PS3, and these are from around maybe 750 artists or so (I have no idea, but it's a relatively large number). Do...you...have...ANY...idea...what it's like, even in 'group content by artist' mode, to hold the left analog stick down for about a three weeks and find you're only on 'E'? Implement a search function or an iPod like letter-search when you scroll fast enough.
3. The PlayStation Store. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but describe how large the file is before we choose to download it - please?
4. DVD bookmarks. I haven't had a chance to try out a Blu-ray movie yet, so I don't know if it's included there, but considering the fact that it has a HDD could you please let us add bookmarks galore to our films? Also, while your at it, chapter images like in the 'scene search' mode on stored videos would be nice, too :)
5. Back to the subject of music, could you be nice and let us use all them shoulder buttons for music control whilst elsewhere in the XMB - ya know, since nothing else is using them, huh?
6. Free bacon.
7. Fix your internet browser. It's fiddly and I don't like it.
8. Access to the Gracenote database for DVDs. It would be nice to have a name and a background image, even if you only see it for a few seconds.
9. Ability to pull album artwork automatically when you import a CD. Come on; it's so basic!
10. Get developers working on some proper third-party apps; YouTube, Facebook integration, etc.
11. Make me better at online multiplayer.
12. Let me put whatever amount of money I want into my Wallet. I have £1.01 in it at the moment. What can I buy with it? Feck all.
I know that all of these are possible, any maybe even really easy, to implement (okay, maybe not 6, but don't look at me for 11 - I've seen technology recently...)
I would be very grateful if any of these could be satisfied, but if you can only pick one, please pick number 2; I'm sure every other PS3 user with music would agree.
Thanks Sony. Lots of love, me.
P.S. Make items in Home cheaper. 79p for a virtual footstool? Fuck off.
I'm not very familiar with PS3 but when you say "wallet in #12", is that your actual wallet, or a term for how many points you have available on PSN?
On 360, if i understand you correctly, its the same thing.
I want a game for 1100 points and I have to buy 1200. Great, now i've spent more money than the game i bought it worth, but the extra is just floating there in case I want to buy an avatar pack or something.
Or what really eeks me is when i want to, for example, buy a game for 1300 and i have to spend WAY more than i want to. I can't remember exact numbers but i think i would have to buy 1200, then 600, equalling 1800, which is significantly more than i wanted to spend in the beginning.
by wallet he means the money you reserve for playstation store purchases. sony doesnt go by points... you just deposit money from your account and thats just what they go by: exact cash. thing is... it requires specific incremental deposits (goes by 5.00 here in the U.S) so if you wanna buy something thats just 1.99... you need to take atleast 5 bucks for your card just to get it... and whats left just sits there when you dont intend on getting anything else. pisses me off too really
Agree strongly with #6. As for the rest, you seem to think that Sony knows or cares about making a decent media player. PSP was advertised as music and video on the go, and we all saw how great that turned out.
Everything about what you said is exactly what im constantly talking about with ony. Its like hey theres a bunch of really basic things that could overall improve the overall expirience. Don't they have testers for this kind of stuff?
Almost every single one of your points is valid, isnt obtrusive and all the details that when they are there its hey Hey cool. Its Expected from a company as large an as overpromising as sony to have offered.. At Least by NOW!
Long ago are the days of throwing money at sony becasue consumer confidence was so high and said company was routinely releasing top notch products for a top notch price.
#4 has been satisfied, i was watching a movie on my ps3 and accidentally bump into it, the movie does not need to be a blu-ray or even ona disc for that matter i think. works just like Netflix :)
a few comments:
- APP SUPPORT: ya more app would be awesome why do you think iphone is so successful more app please!!
- NETWORK MAPPING: my console is connected to a home server and anytime i want to access a file over the network, (and probably b/c i categorized them simply for the sake of organization), i have to literally go through 7-8 folders before i get to the list of files. so what im trying to say is having the ability to 'map network folders' would be very useful
- PS3 HOME: agreed with the playstation home, unless it's pre-launched as you turn on the console, i dont really see anything useful or convenient about it.. just more wait while loading scenes...
"I'm a college student looking for a new laptop, but almost all of my media I receive digitally. I'm looking for a laptop, not a netbook, without an optical drive, and budget sensitive. The optical drive will just be a waste of space, when I can have thinner laptop. What's out there?"

Seriously though, pretty good points all around!
