Razer adds a dozen keys to Naga MMO mouse, intros rollable gaming surface
Who says MMO gamers are alienated by everyone accessory makers? Across the pond in Germany, Razer has stepped up to serve the needs of basement-dwelling World of Warcraft players with its first dedicated MMO mouse. The Naga, as it's so beautifully called, gives users a dozen customizable buttons on the side in order to take some of those keyboard macros (or just the 1 - 12 number keys) and put them within thumb's reach. The mouse (shown in video after the break) also ships with a robust software suite that can save unlimited profiles and program "thousands of different in-game commands for each character you choose to play." In case that's not enough to get your juices flowing, the company also outed an all new gaming surface (the Megasoma) that can be rolled up and tucked away for easy transport between LAN parties. Check the read link for all the nitty-gritty details, and get ready to hand over $79.99 for the critter and $49.99 for the mouse when they ship worldwide later this year.

lol wut
Overkill much?
I take it you don't play MMOs?
no, he has a life
HaZaRdous life, that is...
@loocas
lols
That mouse looks amazing. Really liking the pattern and shape. Like always have to try it out first to be sure.
Hey, FakeSteve, the camera is over here.
Pretty niche, but I could see it being useful if you were exp grinding for extended periods of time.
lol.. don't try to speak MMO if you obviously don't play.. either that or you're a pvptard that's never been in a raid. I would think that any game with many buttons to press just *might* benefit from a mouse that has links to them right under your thumb.
lol Prokanda, apparently you don't play MMOs very much either, or you would know that PvP uses far more buttons than PvE. Good thing you're quick to lash out at someone on the internets and make yourself look like a douche bag.
I lol'd at the video when the guy said that he wanted to use the keyboard for moving his character. LOL only newbs keyboard turn.
His facial hair is disturing...
i mean rather disturbing me FAIL for typo...
fancy mouse is fancy
I can see it now
"YOU DIDN'T HEAL ME"
"SORRY I HIT 7 INSTEAD OF 8"
I'm loving the logo, looks like the 3 legs of Mann =)
"the result of countless hours of all night gaming sessions"
No... that's cheetos dust and bawls all over your dirty jeans.
God, if my Deathadder is going skitzo with 4 buttons, I'd hate to see what'd happen with that after a year.
I had one of their copperhead's for a while.. loved how sensitive it was until less than a year later it started going crazy as well. razer just doesn't know how to make buttons that last. however, my g5 and now current g9 are amazing. go logitech with your next rodent purchase.
I tho most MMO game doesn't allow macro scripts, they consider that as bot script.
Big difference between yourself clicking one key that will trigger a short macro with 4-5 key-chains, and an automatic script that reacts to the game itself :)
WTB this mouse. Where can I buy?
I want something like this for Lightroom and other apps.
Wacom tablet and a few customized presets works just fine for me...
Hmm. I use a keyboard mainly, but then I play Final Fantasy XI.
Not for me.
One more excuse for when a pally tank "accidentally" bubbles >.>
wheres all my nagas at?
the slave pens
@Lazarpandar
I haven't laughed that hard in weeks. Thank you.
Does this mouse take into account people who are over 6 foot and have large hands?
The world sucks if it doesnt. I swear everything that is designed in this world was built by someone 5 foot nothing. Buncha midget designers. From planes to buses it just seems noone cares about the tall man.
I hear ya.
This coming from a person with big hands (my palm touches the table and my fingertips extend well beyond the buttons on the largest mouse I could find):
I cant even use the back / forward buttons on my mouse right now because they're to far back. I'd have to be some sort of finger contortionist to use this thing comfortably.
Tall people don't need computers, they are the first ones to know when it's raining. We, average sized people, need The Weather Channel's website to tell us.
Holy hell that is awesome. And here I thought X-keys was the ultimate solution for multiboxing. Though a combination would be perfect. Wish this thing had come when I still played EQ2! Unforunately I have a life now, and can't spend the 12 hours a day to play that it takes to have a blast in that game ;/
I'm sorry, this just looks like they crammed as many buttons on the side of a mouse as they could. How do you reach the 7-12 row? You practically have to remove your hand from the mouse to reach that far back. Crapgadget inc. I will give them props for working with Dominos, kind of cool that a company like them worked with an add-on.
As if I don't accidentally hit enough buttons when playing counter-strike...now I can hit a dozen more!
is this like Gillette's new 10-blade shaver? i thought this was from the onion for a second...
take a look at the images on Razors site -- that is one tall mouse! I love the buttons on my G5 but it has always been too small for my hand to be really comfortable. This mouse will get a good look from me. Those 12 thumb button might be too awkard though, not sure till I put my hand on one.
could someone show me where the 10, 11, and 12 keys are?
directly under 7, 8 and 9 keys.
Fifty bucks for a mousemat, youve got to be effing kidding me, I dont even use on on my desk, I have a logitech G9 and it doesnt seem to need one
Yeah, I thought the same thing about mats... well I got one last Christmas and the accuracy and tracking of my mouse has increased significantly. Lot better in FPS and MMOs...
Is this really that necessary? Most of the MMO games I've played didn't rely so much on quick actions like FPSs where you need easily accessible buttons at you fingertips, they were instead more reminiscent of turn based games and it wouldn't matter if you had to quickly glance over to your keyboard to find a key and hit it. I can understand sticking a few buttons on for regular use to save reaching for the keyboard all the time (even though your other hand is on it most of the time) but 12 buttons is completely pointless.
Newbie!
Do you NEED more than 3 buttons to play an MMO? no.
Do you need more than 3 buttons to be a top-tier raider in most MMOs? YES!
I've seen people play WoW with just the mouse. It's possible. And it's painful to watch. Like trying to run down a sandpaper street with one leg and no arms.
On the other hand, my whole guild plays using 5-button mice and the Belkin N52te (15 buttons, Dpad, scrollwheel). We may not be Teh Uberz, but we can defintely run rings around anyone using just a mouse.
this would be good for gaming.
Really? Good for gaming? No way!
I though I wouldn't have a use for my deathadder's two extra buttons...
this could be useful for CAD... but that would be practical, so fuck that.
My name is Fake Steve and I'm not reading a script at all. I also need a haircut and shave so that makes me more relatable to the hardcore xtreme energy drinkering gamer with a mouse that has more buttons then a goddamn missle launcher and a sensor 10x faster then humanly useable... .. . Speak company slogan here and slogan here again then say how great it is and recite product brand.
All I can tell you is that both the Razer mice I overpaid for ended up with broken left click buttons because the plastic contacts wore down over time.
