First two Microsoft retail stores now hiring
Interested in handling the Zune HD and other such goodies ahead of time? Microsoft's first two retail stores are now hiring, and if you've always dreamt of being a "retail associate" now's your chance to stand on the front lines. The job will require at least some geographical proximity to the Scottsdale, Arizona or Mission Viejo, California store locations, a love for technology, and the memory to remember all those Windows 7 SKUs, but those are just small hurdles -- the honor and courage will have to come from within.

LOL
I swear I can't tell whether it is Cheney or Ballmer! ;) ;)
Best picture ever.
Give whoever made it a raise (or at least a bonus)!
lmao this picture made my afternoon all the better saving it asap
Horrible Photoshop job. At least mask off the part when the head should be behind the pointing hand.
Very cleaver though. I don't think Balmer really wants me though. I'd probably go postal after the 3rd day. Most Windows users I know (except the tech savy) are very ignorant.
@EM1
"Most Windows users are ignorant" is a very misleading phrase. Considering just about everyone use Windows, it should be more akin to "most PEOPLE are ignorant."
EM1 has no humor I see.
I have a Mac and when I go in to the Apple store here on 5th ave I get to see a lot of people that are ignorant to the outside world, so it goes both ways.
@ EM1
That's like saying " Most of the Asians I know, except for the ones who can jump high, can't jump high"
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

That, dear folks, is what we in the business call Epic Win of the Highest Order!
But shouldn't Ballmer be wearing Turtleneck shirt? If you're going to copy, you might
as well go all the way! I bet Ballmer is wearing Jobs' underwear!
The comments on Microsoft's blog crack me up. What are these idiots thinking asking whether or not Microsoft is going to open a Retail store in their remote town.
When they open one in Seattle ill come and check it out.
That is an AWESOME picture. So, if you're hired at the AZ store...are you required to know about project Mojave? ;)
Wow! u guys love Ball-mer / Balm-er
That pic is my new Zune background lol this one is going in the hero pic folder
i feel this story
Stop the Internets! We've found the greatest picture EVAR.
Just hope the staff won't be as bad as the guys at the PC World stores here in the UK.
if they open one of these near my i'm so applying.
i'm a microsoft fanboy for life.
All those SKUs aha aha ah... oh shut the fuck up already.
You may want to direct your complaints to Microsoft, since they're the ones who came up with all the different versions of Windows.
Why? It's not complicated and certainly not the issue the tech blogs make it out to be.
Yeah, we all know that more choices would suck right.
There should just be only one version. Maybe we can call it Windows 7 Obama.
The black version is called Ultimate.
Any word on when the Scottsdale, AZ one is opening? I've passed it a couple of times at Scottsdale Fashion Square. I still haven't been to the Scottsdale Apple store.
I wonder if the MS Store Associates will be as much of douche bags as the Apple Store Associates.
I wonder in which Apple Store you experienced those d.b.'s?
@ Joe sandy
I have been to the Apple store at San tan mall, (Arizona) and the one at Chandler mall. They're always douches! I went in a few days ago, and asked why the iTouch costs more than the zune hd. First he said, well sir the iPod touch has much better technology. I said how so? Well sir the the iPod touch uses a touch interface, it has Wi-Fi, and it can associate with iTunes software. I was like.. uh the zune hd uses touch interface and has wi-fi, but he continued to say that he works in the tech gadget field, and I don't so he was obviously correct. I hate apple store employees.
Is it retail?
Then yes, they will be just as douchey.
So will their customers.
It's retail. EVERYONE'S a douchebag when in retail.
you asked a retail employee about pricing that they have no control
over vs. a product that's not out yet?
way to stick it to him Ryan.
@ Ryan
Isn't it just as douch to go into a store, start with a question (as gozer pointed out) that they won't know the answer to, and then proceed to ask incendiary questions that, being a tech blog reader, are superfluous?
Besides, in order to keep their job they have to 'tow the Apple line'. I bet that employee enjoys their pay cheque at the end of the month more than winning a flame war with a 'customer'.
Most likely all of them.
Anecdote alert!
::Overheard whilst walking by an apple store on my way to Thirsty's::
Person: "Do you have any I-Touch-Pod-Nano-Mini. With 3G if you have any"
Rep: "I don't know, let me check..."
I did a psyduck and walked on by.
@ryan - it seems like you went in there with douchey intentions. What did you expect him to say?
@ Xenoterranos
i can't read that without a southern accent. all it's missing is "new-fangled"
1. Apply for the job.
2. Mention that you're a mac user during the interview.
3. Sue for discrimination after you get turned down.
4. Profit.
you forgot the ?????
memefail.
ur doin it rong
If you answer 2. you're probably using Windows anyway so they won't care. :)
Son... I am disappoint.
Pro Tip: Keep your iphone in your pocket during the interview
agreed
Or, keep it visible and make an argument as to how extensive knowledge of the competitor's products will help you better pitch MS's products.
I've been kinda looking forward to an MS store since the day I read they were rumored to be starting one. Question is, will it last? The last store war of this type I can recall is the Disney Store vs the WB Store, and I've been missing the WB Store since the day they closed their doors. I wish MS the best with this. Regardless of the "winner," competition is always good.
Btw, that picture made my day. hahaha
If you're questioning whether it will 'last', what the hell are you looking forward to?
Finally! A place I can pick up a boxed copy of Windows. Thank God.
Honestly, MS is just green with Envy. They're still a hugely profitable company (read: M-O-N-O-P...) but man to they just flat out suck.
Competition does bring out the best in people, and look, MS's mediocrity exemplifies that quite well.
Now they're plucking features from OS X and iWork they could have implemented years ago? Brilliant.
I would actually apply for a job if a store were to open up in NYC.
I can definitely see one opening in NYC. Maybe we will work together some day, lol.
As soon as they open a store in the greater Chicago area (preferably the southland) I will apply for a job there. I really just wanna play with a surface all day then be smarmy to customers who tell me they're switching to mac.
