I tried Ovi maps for walking in a city (on a Nokia E75) and I was really impressed. I just held the phone in my hand, and each time I came to a junction where I had to change direction, the phone vibrated, I could look at the phone, see where I had to go, and carry on. So I could enjoy the city without constantly staring at the phone, and only be reminded when I needed to be.
I didn't get any voice instructions, so I'm guessing the person who complained about them above had chosen a drive walk instread of a walk route.
