PS3 Slim shipping on August 26th, says Amazon

It looks like there might be a trend brewing among products with nondescript September release windows coming out in August instead -- first with Apple, and now with Sony. Supply shortages or no, Amazon's telling those who pre-ordered the PlayStation 3 Slim the first day it was announced should expect to have their consoles in-hand on Wednesday, August 26th, almost a whole week before the new month begins. Delivery estimates are subject to change, of course, but Amazon's not one to typically screw around with shipping confirmations. Any other early adopters received confirmations lately?

My order with standard shipping (not one day like the picture) says Aug 28th or the 29th. I was cheap on the shipping!

The $3.99 shipping is only if you're a member of Amazon Prime. It's $14.97 otherwise.

www.futureshop.ca says it is shipping august 26th in canada.

I work for them and we have them in transit from our distribution center to our stores. So we will have and be able to sell it before the 26th. If it is shipping this soon in Canada surely the US would get it just as quick.

I also pre-ordered the as soon as Amazon made the PS3 Slim available and my shipping estimate is August 31, 2009 with arrival between September 08 2009 - September 14 2009. In total I only paid $224 shipped because I was hanging on to a $75 off any new console purchase that I received from a game trade special that Amazon was running earlier this summer.

I will never want the slim over the original. matte looks stupid. The original ps3 looks great on my shelf under my glossy ass samsung 1080p. matte will just look like a round ps2 honestly. plus why have buttons when you could have proximity sensors?

The glossy PS3 looked nice as long as it was kept in a dust free room and never touched. The second you did anything with it fingerprints would show up like a magnet. Matte plastic on the other hand stays clean looking.

go to Gamestop.com and check out the ship date there, too. Gamestop's ship date has been the same since the announcement of PS3 slim. I have a feeling they will be available IN THE STORES on August 25th/26th.

I ordered next day shipping but Amazon says delivery estimate is 27th. The screen capture posted here says 26th.
