Zune HD getting previewed at select Best Buys this weekend

Now that NVIDIA is totally free to chat up its Tegra involvement in the Zune HD, it's wasted little time in publishing a list of Zune HD preview locations where you can witness the magic for yourself this weekend. The tour is fairly limited to the big urban hubs, but peep the PDF and see if your friendly neighborhood Best Buy is represented.

The Zune HD plays 720p output to a big monitor but nobody said anything about it being able to display it on the Zune HD display.

iPod Touch can play 720p on the display, the h264 encoding is far superior to Microsoft encoding.

Why is 720p important?, anything lower starts to look pixelated.

The fingers holding this Zune HD look very clear, but the Zune HD screen looks slightly blurry and the colors look off.

You do realize that if you have a 480x320 screen and play a 1280x720 movie on it, you're not going to be looking at a 1280x720 movie; you'll be looking at a 480x272 movie, the exact resolution of the Zune.

I'm quite positive that at least 12 people will show up for the grand failing err introduction of the Zune. Why risk the embarrassment of actually showing up that your interested in a Zune? It's a Zune, the product that has become the basis of all jokes in the industry, media and even popular television shows.

About 20-25 people were there in the first twenty minutes at the one in Northgate. No telling how many will stop by the time the rep leaves. It's clearly popular and rightly so it's a smooth piece of hardware with a nice UI.

As of last year, the market share of Zunes in the mp3 player market was 4%. I'm a fan of the Zune, I have a launch 30 GB and am planning on getting the 64 GB HD when it's released, but c'mon guys, let's stop the bickering and trolling.
