wtf? shuffle for voicemails?? are you kidding me?
OH NOES!~!!!!
TEH IPHONE IS DOOMED!!!
haha sweet, good catch!
REPLY to Juan: Yeah, but do you get VVM and tethering without resetting the APN? Every time I tether, I have to refresh the APN settings (acds.voicemail) to get VVM working.
The voicemail plays through the standard BB media player. What, they should have gone to the trouble of removing a feature of the player just for when a voicemail plays?
I think they should hit my iPhone with MMS next.
Jeje, I have had MMS on my N95, on ATT for the past year and a half. Take THAT iPhone lover!
MMS? Why is this such a big deal? I'd prefer tethering first.. Then again, I already have tethering.. haha
can't wait to get this up and running.
Should download Youmail. It's free and you could of been using it months ago.
or google voice and get a text transcription as well!
I actually did d/l YouMail after seeing it in AppWorld this afternoon. After playing with it for a while, I saw this article, so I dumped YouMail and went for the official stuff. I'd rather have the official service from my regular provider than go through a 3rd party hack. Not that YouMail is bad for other phones that don't have an official VVM, though. I'd just rather have the officially supported version.
Youmail is only free if you use it as voicemail... So that's a useless and a huge waste.
Googlevoice is much better and free.
That definitely looks pretty cool. I like that it lets you save the voicemails to a memory card, it's something I've wanted for a long time. I might have to get a Bold now.
Indeed. A friend of mine had some, shall we say, legal issues involving another person, in which the ability to save and transfer voice mail messages in this fashion would have been a big help. I have this up and running now on my own Bold, and it's a great feature to have.
Also, aside from the VVM, the new OS update has some cool features, like the ability to bring up the app switcher by holding the BB key and (best of all for me) more free memory. Seems to run a bit faster too.
Is the left side convenience key too hard to press?
Visual voicemail < Voicemail transcription sent via SMS.
With GV, you get both :)
I hardly use VM anymore. I can see who called me, and call them back, and honestly, even if I listen to the message they're just gonna repeat what they said on the VM. Kinda useless really.
Yea, text message is the new voicemail...
True but this is why visual voicemail is great; you can still listen to VM if you want but its so easy to just click thru and delete the ones you know you don't need to hear.
...shuffle.
What
the
hell.
Did you read the first comment? @.@
Wha... Oh, that.
Well, there's nothing wrong with 2 comments saying similar things.
Is this for free or are they charging like Verizon?
It's free.
OMGZ THEY TOTALLY HAXORED THIS FRUM DA IPHONEZ, STEVE JOBZ SHUD SUE DEM N' TAKE ALL HIS INTERNETS BAK!
joking, this actually is a nice interface...not that i listen to voice mail anymore....
Actually, Apple had to license the technology from another company after a patent-infringement suit was filed.
I wonder if RIM licensed the same tech.
Listen to your voicemail.
Awesome. Now BlackBerry owners can experience the same 24-hour delay in voicemail delivery that iPhone owners do.
What delay? Do you even own an iPhone?
I've had an iPhone for over a year and have never had a delay. But I used to have a Verizon phone and sometimes their system DID have delays of over 24 hrs getting voicemails to me (the traditional way). It was rare but it happened.
I've actually experienced this. No missed call, and a voice mail that comes 24 hours (if not longer) later. It's been a rare occasion, though.
Never gotten a delayed VM. But who knows, maybe half of them just go missing and I never realized it!
My Verizon phone sometimes wouldn't ring or notify me of VM or anything, but I think that was more because it was a crappy Motorola... with Microsoft and Verizon being less likely culprits.
For the 2 very short months that I owned the crappy Storm, Visual Voicemail was a paid feature.. $2.99/mo. Is there still a charge to Storm users?
Extra charges and extra taxes... when will it stop?? I'll be damned if I ever give more money to those goddamn cell phone companies. Government needs to investigate Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. Anti-Trust laws need to be enforced! CROOKS!!!
What are you talking about? There are no extra charges for this.
My old Sanyo VM 4500 did visual voicemail. Why does the iPhone have to do something before anyone follows suit? Bugs the heck outta me.
No dice here in the northeast. waaah
old news.. anybody who is anybody has already updated their bold to 4.0.0.235 or newer has already figured this out..
I have a Bold, and am still a little new to some of this stuff. I went to update it, and it says if I do it over the wireless network, charges may apply. What kind of charges is it talking about? If i have the data plan, it should be free, or it may just cost to download it?
It will cost if you do not have a data plan, or you go over your allotted data if you do not have an unlimited plan.
An amazing breakthrough from AT&T. Now blackberry users will have to wait a day to see their voicemail as well!
The voicemails on my Bold (including the few I've gotten today of the visual variety) have always come through within about 30 seconds of the message being left.
Software update v4.6.0.508 is available from AT&T's BB firmware website.

Select the Bold 9000 from the drop down list and you are good to go. I am downloading it now.
This reminds me of the episode of south park where Butters's assistant keeps saying "Simpsons did it".. only in this case, it's "iPhone did it!"..
Take that! R.I.M., my ass hole.. wait... that wasn't right..
