Since we first heard about
Florida going Slim with its PS3s, we've gotten numerous reports abut the console showing up on retail shelves in Best Buys and GameStops across these 48 contiguous states. We've also heard whispers that brick-and-mortar Sony Style locations are getting shipments and will be unleashing to the masses soon after -- not to mention
Amazon's still promising at least some deliveries for tomorrow. Our calls to Sony haven't been returned yet, but it seems like the release date now is more or less "as soon as your local electronics store gets a shipment." Another shot of the boxes in the wild after the break, and let us know below if and where you've managed to spot one!
Update: We just got confirmation from Sony that retail stores are being told they can sell the Slim as soon as they receive it. Now let's see how the the 160GB PS3 classic fares with its slender counterpart sharing price point and shelf space.

I saw 4 boxes at my local walmart in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

My friend told me that he wasn't allowed to sell his until Sept 1st (he works at EB Games) according to his boss... I'm still gonna go and hope things have changed.
I preordered mine from BestBuy.ca as I am in a town without one where we get things at least a week after everyone else. It sucks, I know. But online it says they are in stock. Just waiting for my shipping notification now.
I picked one up from GameSpot. The Bravia Sync feature works in tandem with my Samsung's Anynet+ feature allowing the TV to turn the PS3 on (and maybe off, I haven't had time to confirm this).
The old SpiderMan font logo is nowhere to be seen anywhere on the PS3 or it's OS. New startup sequence, and when launching a game, it no longer makes the 3 chimes and show the PLAYSTATION 3 logo - it just fades to a black screen and starts the game.
I would like to know if it works with Samsung Anynet+
if you could provide more bravia link / anynet+ / hdmi cec features that would be great
can you control the ps3 menus from your tv remote?
can you configure it to turn your tv on...but not to turn it off? is most of the config on the tv side, or ps3 side? etc
I've read somewhere that they have replaced the logo due to visibility issues.

I just saw them in local Best Buy few hours ago. They even had sign out that said they have slim PS3s.
Got it today in a VA Best Buy.
PS3, is in trouble that's why they are dropping prices, the PS3 is awesome but for gaming my next console will be the Xbox elite for $299.00. I have the PS3 80G, I should have waited could have got the same with 120G for 399.00.
depends on which 80GB you got - the earlier 80s have (almost) full BC
heheh kewl thats my pic from the Best Buy in Charlotte,NC. Sad thing is they had those PrintShop Pro flyers plastered all over the front door of the building even lol. It was like a media blitz, the first thing you see walking into the store is a table of slim ps3s. I started to buy one, but I already have a 60GB fattie.
How do you start to buy one? You arrive at counter with cash and console in hand and thought "I have the best version in the world, no need to blow away 299" and place it back on a shelf. Hmm...yep, plausible.

There NEVER was a street date. Sony said that the PS3 Slim would be available WW by Sept. 1st. They said in at least 1 interview that retailers could sell the Slim as soon as they get it.
If you are going to troll, get yer facts straight, otherwise you just look as foolish as those healthcare protesters that are on medicare telling the govt. to stay out of their HC that they DON'T have and at the same time saying don't touch my medicare.

I asked with the understanding that a company as big as Sony wants set a date a stick to it, spend a little money with some PR campain to announce the BIG DAY.when people line up BY THE THOUSANDS to get their hands on this MUST HAVE machine. Why, people are buying it anyway. Who cares if there's some big camp out all night and rush the door release party. It actually shows me that Sony is not concerned about creating some amped up release gimmick. I for one am glad I could get it earlier than I thought, I'll pass on the sleeping in a tent and parking lot robberies

I bought mine today from gamestop in NY
I never shop at BB and rarely walk in, but i just picked one up at my local BB in the San Francisco bay area, had $155 worth of BB giftcard sitting around for years waiting to be used.
I'm calling up every Gamestop in the area to see if any have appeared yet.
I just received my shipment confirmation about 10 mins ago. Ordered with 1 day shipping, and they say it will arrive tomorrow (wednesday). Now to pick out some games!
I suggest LittleBigPlanet if you're creative. If not, there is always Killzone 2, Resistance 1/2, and Uncharted. Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 both have fantastic online play if that's what you are looking for.
I just went to an EB Games in Nova Scotia, Canada and they had a bunch on sale. The whole package is surprisingly light! Buying one soon :D

I was just in the Best Buy in Orem, UT and saw them on sale, though it was only available in a bundle with an extra dual shock 3 and a charge station for $367.
Best Buy at Northgate in Seattle has a stack of them. I already have an xbox so didn't see much point in getting one. I did pickup Batman tho :)
