Windows 7 upgrade options will be available in Europe after all
This seems as good a time as any to try and summarize the impact of Windows 7 E getting EUthanized. Without the Europe-specific browserless version clouding things up, Microsoft was freed to offer in-place upgrades to current Vista users, and it has sagely done exactly that. The October 22 release date will see both full and upgrade versions available on European shelves, and the UK Home Premium upgrade has been priced at £79.99 (MSRP), which is set to jump to £99.99 on January 1. If you're quick, you can currently pre-order the full version for the lower price from the MS online store. The Family Pack option also makes a welcome appearance, costing £149.99 to upgrade three machines, but it too will be a limited time offer.

I'm gonna wait and get a nice student discount baby!
You get babies with your student discount? Sounds a bit like by old uni then. Just remember to wear a rubber, mkay?
How do you get a student discount for Windows? I thought it was only for Office.
I get it for free from my school. Heck i already got it.
Yes, i know it isn't technicall free. sigh....
Kelmon - you have an odd way of getting babies.
The bee & the flower & the windows 7
what?
where else do you think abortions go to?
Having just heard that the upgrade will cost more then the pre-order of the Full version, I just pulled to trigger on ordering the full version for just £64.99 from Amazon.co.uk

Do anyone know where i can find that background?
that wallpaper made the word "abortion" pop into my head.
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.
Yep, get it in the first trimester and they don't have skin complexion yet.
Why is there so much nonsense being spoken about the EU thing? The EU told Microsoft that it should have an option to install competing browsers instead of IE. Anything else Microsoft has done is just them throwing their toys out of the pram, regardless of whether you agree with the EU (I for one do not).
"The EU told Microsoft that it should have an option to install competing browsers instead of IE"
You mean the internet?
Unless you are such a anti-IE wingnut, you can just go through Explorer, go to Firefox.org or whatever, and download the damn thing without any problems.
(I for one do not).
Whats that CPU widget?
I believe its this one:

Why the heck is so expensive?
Indeed. -.-
It's not expensive, especially when you consider how many times you'll use this over the next few years. Also, the number of people who actually buy Windows at retail is very, very small so most people won't even pay these prices.
I don't know about the UK, but in the US you can buy an OEM version for significantly cheaper. The only difference is that you don't get a pretty box, and you aren't supposed to be able to move the license from one computer to another. You can still do it if you call in and say you switched the motherboard or something.
@fanman: I see what you did there. hahah.
The widget is All CPU Meter. I have it in my Vista Sidebar. It will show RAM usage and CPU usage by core for up to four cores and if you run Speedfan, will also display the tempurature of each core.
That Wallpaper is more than Scary....

This is good, glad the UK aint gona get the gimped version, rocking the RTM now and to be honest its so much better than any OS i've ever used, driver support is great, it found my wifi card, webcam, and printer without me needing to download any drivers, thats never happened before.
That wallpaper would severely deter me from wanting to use the multitouch capabilities due to fear of being bitten, or touched back. Way too creepy.
Where do i get that creepy wallpaper?! I want!
Isn't it part of the Win7 wallpapers? I have it on mine and don't recall downloading it separately.
"EUthanized"
I see what you did there...
That picture still scares the crap out of me. I can't imagine having it as my wallpaper.
