MSI debuts Wind Top All-in-One AE2010 desktop

MSI's just announced the Wind Top All-in-One AE2010 desktop -- a step up from the previous AE1900. The 20-incher boasts a 1600 x 900 touchscreen, an AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core CPU (an improvement over its previous Atom 230 / 330), onboard ATI Radeon 3200 graphics card, 4GB of DDRII 533MHz SDRAM, a 320GB hard drive, 6 USB ports, and a 4-1 card reader. This bad boy has a starting price of $649.99, and will be available next month.

At these prices, a woman can afford to have one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. That way she is connected wherever she goes
You should let her go in other rooms too, that way everything stays tidy.
If you REALLY want to be connected everywhere you go, then add another for the bathroom.
Gotta agree with bill. How is she supposed to mop the floors/vacuum the house/dust the furniture? Those are some of the most important things for a woman. Matter of fact, she should get one for the hospital delivery room as well, just to round out everywhere she needs to be.
Wow that woman is pretty hot. I would put one in the screened deck so she and her tupperware girls could have a distance conf call with the partyers next country over.
ill take the chick in the screen
Ewww 533MHz DDRII... God damn, why do manufacturers always have to make an otherwise great system only to cripple the hell out of one component?
It doesn't exactly need to play Crysis.
Does it look like she's playing Crysis?
I run a gig of 533mhz DDRII in a Shuttle -- runs Crysis at medium settings just fine. I use the box as an HTPC -- runs 1080P h.264 MKV's perfectly. You know why? RAM speed doesn't mean squat for most applications. My old Athlon MP box with a gig of ECC DDR 400 ram runs Windows 7 smoothly.
Eh, I've seen too many computers end up being way too slow(especially on startup, since it needs to cache everything into the RAM) because of slow RAM speed. Upgrading to at least 800, preferably 1066 brought them back to being super fast.
I'm calling shenanigans Mark. I've been a system builder since the 486 days, and currently run an IT dept. for a multi-national corp. and 533MHz DDRII would have virtually no impact versus 800, etc. DDRII. The differences are so minor in the real world that no system was resurrected by speedier RAM. Total B.S.
I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree(it largely matters what kind of software you have installed, etc), but point being: It would have been great if they could have thrown in the extra $10 upgrade to make it 800MHz(or even $30 for 1066) and have it be a bit more future proof. 533 is just sad.
@Mark >> "Eh, I've seen too many computers end up being way too slow(especially on startup, since it needs to cache everything into the RAM) because of slow RAM speed. Upgrading to at least 800, preferably 1066 brought them back to being super fast."
RAM speed is measured in milliseconds.... is it gonna be so slow that you notice it? RAM reads and writes in the blink of an eye. Hard drives, on the other hand, are slooooooooow.
What's the big deal? Can't you replace the RAM in this machine with faster RAM if you wanted to?
On the other side of the fence... when Apple went with faster DDR3 memory, they were blasted for using expensive "we don't need this much speed" RAM.
Can't please everyone...
Mark I have 2 systems with the same CPU (both Intel E2160)
One runs in an old i865 motherboard with DDR3200 ram the other runs in an Nvidia 630a motherboard with DDRII800, the old one has SATA1 the new one has SATA2, know what the performance difference is ? the newer one boots Windows 7, 6 seconds faster than the old one. Impressive eh ?
Looks like one of Apples old displays...
Looks like that 10 year old Apple CInema Display
It was a great design obviously.
@Joe
I hope that was sarcasm
Looks awesome
Finally, these things are beginning to approach the specs of a real computer. I hope a year from now we can all look back at the age of the 'Atom' and say in unison "What were they thinking?"
The all in one revolution is happening!!!!
This is truly compelling product
Count me in
Wow, someone actually made one of these without shitty specs. Now this is interesting.
Huh you serious? 533mhz ram, 20" with 1600x900 res, Athon CPU. Not as shitty as the previous one but still shitty IMO.
Fernando are you serious? Those specs are 11ty billion times better than the Intel Atom and GMA garbage that came with the last one
Quit your whining guys. It's a good price for what it has. Want some better specs (at a much higher price)? Buy the HP Touchsmart all-in-one.
So the "Get back in the kitchen and make me a sammich!" photo is really necessary? Apron and whisk and all... really?
Nice, I buy one! But how do we call these devices? "All-in-One Desktop PC With Touchscreen" ?
iMac rip offs?
@iPriest: WOAH, the iMac has a touchscreen now? AWESOME!
I've always hated these all-in-ones! :(
But the chick is nice ;)
I'm not enjoying that strip of mock naugahyde under the bezel.
Pretty sure those are the speakers..
Doubtful judging by the strip of metal on this model.

I hope it has VESA mount support.... why are none of these things capable of that? I want to mount it in the kitchen with an articulating arm so it can swing between kitchen/living room.
kind of pricey for those specs... for a little more I would rather have an iMac. Or a custom built PC with an external monitor....
I just got the Atom powered version for my father in law. $530 on Amazon and the touchscreen is a nice feature for someone who doesn't know how to use a mouse. It has more than enough power for all he will be doing (emailing and browsing if even that). I have to say it is a very pretty package overall, and I am sorely tempted to get one for my kitchen, especially with the Windows 7 touch screen support.
$650 for touchscreen and no Atom? I want one.
This unit comes with a VESA mount bracket. And I heard this unit comes with Window 7 Upgrade coupon.

damn that looks like my old G4 Monitor...
If this new all-in-one PC looks familiar, it's because the design was new and innovative... 9 years ago! :-)

There are only so many ways that a computer hiding behind an LCD monitor can avoid looking like an LCD monitor from the front.
Aye, and still turns heads. Gotta hand it to Apple, their designs stand the test of time a lot better than Dells/HPs ever do.
I better like this design then other nettops I saw, but it's stil old. Looks a bit like the iMac G4.
an iMac G4 was white with a curved half ball base a chrome arm and a white TFT stuck to the end of the arm, how are these two devices similar again ?

Dont know, but my guess is it will be cheaper then a MAC and run faster then a MAC.
will it HACKINTOSH? that would be awesome :)
Good luck trying to use that touch screen with OS X, you'd be much happier with Windows 7.
