Purported Olympus E-600 apparently spotted in the wild

This one is being greeted with a fair bit of skepticism on the forums given its seemingly odd placement in Olympus' lineup but, if the pictures are to be believed, it looks like the company could be set to release a new E-600 Micro classic Four Thirds camera -- and soon, considering it's already in a camera shop. As you can see above, however, the camera looks a fair bit like Olympus' existing entry-level E-620 DSLR, and there's unfortunately no specs to speak of, although the E-600 model name did apparently crop up in another rumor a few weeks back. Is it the real thing? Hit up the link below for a closer look to judge for yourself.

looks huge
That's probably because regardless of its authenticity, it's not a *micro* four-thirds camera. Just possibly another in Oly's "classic" four-thirds DSLR lineup.
If it were a micro 4/3rds camera then it wouldn't have the mirror box hump at the top, because it wouldn't have a viewfinder. If it is the E-600, then it will just be a cheaper version of the E-620.
And what lens is that supposed to be?
Olympus knows the market too well to try to push an entry level DSLR without a zoom.
Specially with the market now flooded by so called "Bridge Cameras" by the likes of Casio, Fuji, and Panasonic, that have nothing at all to envy to entry level (and also to some mid range) DSLR.
As strange as it may seem to photo conaisseurs the first thing that most camera buyers check out is the range of the zoom, which is also one of the main factors influencing the choices of the average buyer.
Apparently the unconscious fallic association of a long and powerful zoom play a role too.
And since I know that, I 'm pretty sure that at Olympus they know it too.
@plexus:
Uh, that would be NO lens. That's just a body. Sheesh.
Engadget is making the Micro Four Thirds claim, the rumors site calls it "classic Four Thirds", which is obvious is you know anything about the formats.
The 6 is photoshoped
Yeah you can totally see by the pixels! /sarcasm
@richb93
Yes ... you can. Zoom in on any of this photos and you'll see: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1022&message=32799334&changemode=1
@jpcoto
Are you serious? If anything, the first 0 would be photoshopped, since if it IS an edited picture, it would be edited from a picture of an e620. There would be no need to photoshop a 6.
Nice try though.
E-620 isn't a entry level dslr.
The corrent olympus dslr cameras consist of E-420, E-450, E-520, E-620, E-30 and E-3. E-420 and E-450 are dirt cheap entry level dslrs, E-420 being the going out of production model. E-520 is the step up and E-620 being the top consumer dslr from olympus. E-30 and E-3 offered mainly for professionals.
E-450 and E-620 have been released this year and E-520 beingn older so ill expect its going to replace that one. Heres spec gueswork. Itll be image stabilized version of E-450 which uses older sensor than E-620.
As for release, it might be announced at photokina but there's equal chance it wont. Olympus has a tough time producing E-P1 and it's lenses to answer to the demand. They need a breather and more production capacity so theres a chance this will be postponed, especially as the E-P1:s bigger cousin is closing on release.
Why, with all of the new and upcoming technologies, are all the pictures as blurry as 1960?
Easier to fake.
Plus Mr Blurrycam doesn't want to retire.
