I don't know if I'll ever understand why people choose to associate the success of a consumer product over another with their own superiority to others who use the "lesser" product. Mind boggling...
Plus, even the hardware for the Zune HD looks like it's superior to that of the new iPod Touch(I think we can safely agree the new iPod touch will have the same specs as the iPhone 3GS). I don't see much that they can do that's that exciting in the new iPod Touch: camera, maybe a mic, the 3GS's chipset. In terms of pure goodness the Zune HD will likely have it beat, though I have no doubt that the new iPod touch will sell like crazy, regardless of what it does or doesn't have.
My point is that MSFT didn't get the memo that iPod sales are down. The Zune isn't gonna come in and magically change anything. They'll just close up the Zune shop sooner than later is all. I wasn't stating the "superiority" over anything - that's you're own insecurities talking. Mind-boggling.
There's a difference between "trolling" and being what I call a "truth-jerk." Paul Chapel is a troll - clear as day. I just happen to say what usually becomes the truth (eventually.) I'll admit, I've had my fun at the expense of MSFT (who hasn't), but the reality is that much like an episode of BSG, "all this has happened before and will happen again".. I applaud the Zune team for trying something new... but c'mon, they'll market it wrong, they'll stop supporting it, or they'll not sell enough and cease production. Refer to quote above.
actually, this generation Zune has really made me want one, and i might still get one (i lack money for anything right now), and through all the years ive never been interested or had an ipod. A similar story was heard when the Xbox first came out, now look at its second generation..
You know, I could use a new iPod. Mine is going on 5 years old and the battery is basically shot. I don't plan on buying anything at all until it completely dies, as it still serves its main function - it plays music.
Now when I look at the market right now and were to think, what music player do I think looks sexy, fun, and nice to carry around? I would go with a Zune HD.
Hey, maybe they will close up the Zune app store, maybe there won't be a market for it. Who cares? I have the app store on my iPhone and I think it's a complete rip-off just to gouge more money out of the consumer. Everything on there is pure crap or overpriced (tomtom...) Maybe the Zune won't have apps...but it will play music and videos. The two functions it was designed and born to do. It is also backed by a huge company. These are the reasons the Zune will not go away, no matter how badly you want it to.
Fact is, more and more people know what the Zune HD is than the amount of people who knew what the original Zune was. I'm hearing from friends who have iPods and aren't tech-savvy that they saw something called a Zune HD and it looked really cool. The Zune HD is catching on, and though it won't overthrow the iPod, I do believe it will gain market share.

Goodbye Zune
(oh sure, I'll get downranked by the MSFT fanbois, but the truth hurts)
We've only seen the hardware of the new Zune release, there's still the matter of the 4.0 software.
Hello Zune HD? (I don't own one, prob never will, but that seems the logical response)

@BB
Should we say the same thing about Macs? They have about as much market share among PCs as the Zune has among PMPs.

@BB: If that's really what you meant then couldn't you also say "Goodbye iPod"?
@ Mark
I could, but I won't. The reason is that the Zune is on the short list for an early demise, not the iPod.
Is that the same reason half your posts are anti-Microsoft trolling.

Obvious Troll needs to set his profile to private before claiming not to be Obvious Troll.
