Video: Sony Rolly vs Nao in epic robot dance off
While Sony's $400 Rolly never made much sense as a roll-about musical robot, at least Aldebaran Robotics' Nao could walk upright and play a little football. Now the two have come together to battle on the dance floor. The 91 second video posted after the break is about 70 seconds too long, but consider this your moment of Zen for the day. Bonus points for any readers who re-enact this for Halloween.

Was it worth it?
No not at all
Nao dances like he is either 'kissing his guns" or smelling his armpits.
I found this strangely hypnotic and could have watched it for at least another three hours.
Keep watching while the Terminator takes aim...
I think the Nao just got served. At 1:25 he just shuts down
Domo arigato.
I think everyone would agree with me that Rolly was rocking the dance floor,
while Nao was looking totally self-conscious, embarrassed, and wanted to go home already.
Errorkid is not impressed
Dang .. I was hoping to see Nao play football with Rolly
Underwhelmed. I think I'd seriously rather play with the cardboard box they came in....

years and years of robotic research, this is what they managed to come up with?
People pay money for these pieces of crap?
20 years ago this wasn't even possible.
Baby steps. That's how science advances, or didn't your parents teach you?
this piece of crap is hilarious :) well worth $400... although its $180 now, and completly sold out currently and has been for months
Batteries not included.
Go Robot, It's your birthday, Go Robot, It's your birthday
(For the uninformed I hope you get the M.C. Chris ref.)
you're one year older, one year wiser. Rock and roll star, king, czar, and a Keiser. You're the man of the hour.. the V.I.P. so you get the first slice... of the P.I.E. So break out the candles and make a wish, put a smile on cuz its your birthday bitch!
Rolly is like $229 now.
white robots can't dance
With the Rolly you should just program it constantly spinning and you have a homemade Leslie speaker ;P
Rolly was the better dancer by far. He seemed to be having fun on the dance floor but
Nao seemed to be way too concerned about body odor as he was constantly smelling his armpits.
We really need to slow down on this "Epic" word.
These two seem to go so well together, they should team up for real. The Rolly should be a modular, removable piece of the Nao, that can roll off, roll away, and do the Nao's bidding.
Looks like Rolly won.
Battery life FTW.
Nao is crap! Such a disappointment when compared to Sony's Qrio.... now that little bot could bust a move. Most likely 10k and out of normal consumers' price range, but still awesome none the less.

maybe it will make you change your mind ....
Ive programmed the nao and this is a load of crap. Its like still choosing to use vista after win 7 comes out. Blah.
However the nao has better speakers than rolly and can open your soda for you. whereas rolly can...umm...flap around the soda bottle?meh.
i can choreograph and code better in my sleep than the way that nao danced. our nao'z kick ass.
rolly is far cuter, and unpredictable, motionwise.
Look at this, Nao is playing with Microsoft Surface and zoom in/out on the table!
