Xbox 360 Elite has officially dropped in price and killed off the Pro, it was only a matter of time before there'd be a new rumor to pin on Microsoft's console. Amazon Germany, who previously
listed the PlayStation 3 Slim a good 20 days before the official debut (it still has the same Amazon Stock Identification Number as it did when leaked), has gone ahead and posted a new Xbox 360 model, ASIN in tow, with a 250GB HDD, two wireless controllers, and
Forza Motorsport 3. Price is listed at 279 euros ($397), a good 30 euros over the current Elite price. No release date, but Forza 3 isn't due out until at least October 23rd so we'd say you got awhile to wait and see if this pans out. Any chance we can get a built-in WiFi adapter along with that extra storage space?

Hmm I don't know if anyone really wants a WiFi router built into their Xbox360. I know I would like it to have built-in a Wifi adapter or card like in the PS3, but not a router. That's just plain silly.

iuno man, a built in wifi router could do some good. ive allready placed my 360 next to my modem because of ethernet, might as well eliminate another device.
Funny thing is, the PS3 originally had a router in it when it was showed off at E3 2005.

$400 seems like a reasonable price for that. Good luck with 300.
Take away the extra controller and game and you have a much more reasonable package for the price point.

Damn, decisions. My Elite keeps freezing on me whenever I play and I have a replacement plan from Best Buy so I was planning on returning it soon. If this is true I'd be willing to wait... Hm! I guess I could hold onto the store credit and go xboxless for a coupe months.. I should be studying anyways!

I really would like to know how much Microsoft is going to charge for it though. No matter what I'm going to do it myself though. BTW, if you do upgrade the HDD yourself can you get banned? I don't think so but knowing Microsoft I wouldn't be too sure.
Keep in mind that by default products are 20% more when sold in europe, and conversely you can subtract a certain percentage when going from euros to dollars, apart from the simple exchange conversion, it's because taxes are higher in europe, not just sales tax but also taxes employers pay for people they employ.
And that Amazon price in the article does already contain VAT wheras that goes extra in the US.

Don't forget, the 250 gig PS3 has also proven to exist too. Not sure who keeps copying another, but the harddrive capacity wars seem to be beginning, with both sides continually matching the other at the same exact time.
Better pick up that G25 while you still can. The G27 is out and it isn't exactly an upgrade (depending on what is important to you).

I noticed that too. I'm pretty sure they just made a mistake because the converted price is very close to the current conversion for 279.99. 247 would be closer to $350.

wow, now thats a hell of a deal!, but i have a few things to say...
I opened up my Elite Hard Drive a while back (yes i know, shame one me! ;)) and i realized that all it is is a notebook drive, just like what the PS3 uses (no surprise) but the drive does have to have some special formatting in order for it to work ONLY on a 360 (curse you microsoft!!!) but heres my point... is formatting the drive to the drive to the specific format really worth an extra $100?!?!? or is Microsoft simply trying to rip us off!? Now in response to Matt, yes the 250 GB PS3 DOES exist, and its out already!! for about only $350!! let me explain... the wonderful people at Sony have allowed us to simply upgrade the hard drive of the PS3 with a simple notebook drive, so a week after buying my PS3, i bought a $50 250 GB hard drive to install it! so... yeah... my point is.. i don't know why Microsoft is charging so much for their Hard Drives, since all it is is a notebook drive, especially since i have found notebook drives at $80 for 500 GB! Meaning you can have a 1/2 TB PS3 for only $80 more!! I hope your getting my point here...
