Sorry, but I can't help myself when it comes to making sarcastic comments about people who can't help themselves when it comes to spending bucket loads of money on questionably useful "products".
Includes but not limited to: iTards, Audiophiles, people who follow "fashion" and buy any old faux snakeskin purse some "designer"(haha) churns out, and people who spend bucket loads of money to "collect" utterly useless "art" and other stuff.
and? it's their money. they worked for it, and have decided to purchase something with it. I realize this is a 'comment' section, so you're free to comment, but your persistent arrogance is not cool. If you're not 15, you're definitely sounding like it man...flaming is never cool.
Some of them even have headphone collections.
Wow
Grado is an awesome company, but goddamn it, 300 bucks for portable headphones that require an amp?! I will stick with SR80 for indoor use and Sennheiser IE4 (they sound bad, but not as bad as most of the in-ear headphones under $100) for outdoors.
120 Ohms doesn't necessarily mean they need an amp. They could have a very high sensitivity, especially if they are a single driver.
Love my SR60's, because they sound great. But I also love them because they cost me $61. Sorry Grado, these in ear phones aren't for me at that price.
They have a lower priced one coming out soon for
i don't care how many frills you throw in or how semi-opaque you make the buds, they're still going to make my ears ache after 15 minutes.
Have you tried Shure? Their foam plugs are great, they're basically earplugs with a plastic channel going to the drivers - incredibly comfortable.
I'm sure these Grados probably sound better, but i love my Klipsch Custom-2's. The dual balanced armatures sound amazing and the music flows like butter, and they handle every genre with ease. I would look into them, as they can be had for like $60-$70 vs a ridiculous amount like $300. They are the most comfortable in-ears I've ever used, too.
No, im happy with my UE superfi 5pro. Whats a Moving armature? Are they implying that the driver moves to make sound? lol
Google? Wikipedia?
Yeah well, whatever. Grado is just too expensive in Europe. I assume these will be €300 or rather €400 here.
so for the same price i could get a PS3 slim or a decent surround sound receiver, how can there possibly be $300 worth of materials in some headphones.
So now raw materials are the only cost in goods manufacturing?
jokes in your product titles...really Grado, really?
Custom Earphones are so much better than these generic-fit ones. Custom earmolds from an ENT and such. Go to http://www.CustomEarphones.com to see what I am talking about...
Before I bought good headphones, I was really skeptical about the price/quality of things, but I got a pair of Sony MDR-V6's for $70 off of Amazon, and the sound is literally worlds better. I can detect small imperfections, but they're really great - also, I abuse the crap out of them and they haven't broken. :D
I'll wait for these to drop below $100 through some random happenstance and maybe check them out. Don't have enough money to just buy to try.
Nice but were is the braided cable so the dam things dont fall appart after a few months (like the last 3 pairs of none braided $$$$$ earbuds I have owned) ? You may laugh but I recently purchased a some earbuds for US$24 with no well known brand on them with braided cables (I suspect they are made by a logitech contractor) and they sound great (yes I am tone sensitive).
These better have triple drivers and a replaceable cable for that price. I imagine almost everyone who would pay $250+ for some headphones/earphones for a portable player (and home stereo) would also have a headphone amp as well. I have the UE Triple Fi 10's and I thought I was crazy at first spending $300 or so for some earphones. I love them so much that I highly doubt i'll ever find something better. I'm not willing to try a comparable Shure model now though. If they died i'd easily want to replace them with the exact model. To me, the difference between the Triple Fi's and a $100 in-ear pair is HUGE. For most people though, yes, it's a waste to pay $300 for some earphones. Despite the prices, some things are worth the extra money.
It's too bad most of the good earphones really need a headphone amp. My ipod will drive the Triple Fi 10's ok, but my Sansa Fuze sounds terrible without one.
I imagine these Grados are good. I have the SR-80 and they're the best pair of headphones for the price, but I absolutely HATE the design and think it's worthless. It's probably just to cut costs, but who knows.
Grado has, "created an in-ear pair for the kiddies"... Are you Serious? Grados are anything but child's play, and at 300.00 US I doubt that anything but the most discerning listeners will be lining up for these beauties. (Note: I'll be adding them to my Grado collection ASAP!).
I love my grado over ear headphones, though I dont think I could ever pay that much for in ear earphones
They also have the iGi coming out at $89.
