Eee Keyboard tantalizingly within reach at the FCC
The ASUS Eee Keyboard has been delayed a couple times since it first made our hearts race at CES, but it looks like those rumors of an October launch might actually come true: the new-age C64 has just arrived at the FCC for a little government work. Interestingly, the test reports indicate the presence of a UWB radio in addition WiFi and Bluetooth, so it looks like we'll see the planned wireless HDMI model even after the spec pretty much hit the skids earlier this summer. We'll see how it goes -- and if we get that interesting Moblin version alongside the Windows edition when this thing eventually ships. Fingers crossed!

I would love for this to be priced under $400 CAD.
LOL, a new age C64 -- that's rich.
Actually the Commodore Vic 20 was the "Original all in one Keyboard", you guys must be younger than I thought....
Depending on who you're talking about, it is likely. I am a relatively new member on engadget.com, though I have been reading for years, and I am 16 years old.
Younger than you'd thought?
I just hope they make it so that you can use the display as a Windows sideshow with touchpad, and the keyboard as a wireless keyboard. Nothing I've seen thus far suggests taht it WILL have this functionality, however, and it's a deal breaker for me. Well, that, and the lack of Mac support.
Wait... you are calling the lack of Mac support - ON A PC - a deal breaker?
::head explodes::
Someone explain what makes this cool? I don't get it.
It blends Crysis.
And rips off the iphone
That's not as big a deal as you might think, Khav...you see, there's an app for that.
Back in the old days, all home computers built the computer right into the keyboard and they plugged right into your TV with just one cord... but you had to unplug your Atari 2600. This is what many 30 somethings cut their teeth on as kids late at night... when we didn't have $50 for the latest Atari game (in 1980 dollars!) we had to type our own games in... and they got deleted when we turned it off!!!!
Come to 2009 and we have the return of a single unit computer that plugs into your TV with just 1 cord (or no cords?) This is something parents can buy a smart kid without buying a full rig and he can use it alone or with dad's HDTV (gotta have football!, basketball, baseball, nascar !!) Hopefully it will find it's way into hands of the next wave of little geeks!
@mabhatter didn't you realise you can save onto tape as well as load?
The problem wasn't losing them, it was that they never worked no matter how long you spent looking for bugs, and then you had to return the book to the library.
That's why I'll never buy a Mac, cuz the lack of PC support.
this will never rival the power of my TI-99
RELEASE THE THING ALREADY!!
I do want this so very very badly.
If the price point is low enough I'll be on it like a... I dunno, something that pounces voraciously on something else. I can't even think of a proper analogy for how much I want this.
