Black Wii remote bundle coming to North America, no matching console in sight
Oh Nintendo, you tease. You still won't give us that jet black Wii console bound for Japan, but you've got no problem giving us in North America a taste of the dark side with a black Wiimote and Motion Plus bundle, coming this holiday along with a black nunchuk sold separately. With any luck this is just the sign of things to come, and should the Wii's sales momentum drop, we're sure quite a few new colors will start shipping their way over here (light blue, anyone?). On the more portable side of things, the DSi will be adding pink and white to its repertoire on September 13th. Unless the House that Mario Built is feeling particularly nasty, prices should be the same as their pre-existing color counterparts -- you wouldn't put a premium on a palette swap, right Nintendo?

This whole WII think should die already...
Why should it die? because its selling millions more to a casual audience?
theres nothing on the shelves at present that i would buy... or rebuy in metroids case. house of the dead overkill was the last game i had on. simply put my interest in the wii has diminished due to lack of decent software.
Had a Wii for over a year. It was gimmicky at best. Had a weak as water game library filled with kiddy games and pointless crap that the developers threw together hoping for a quick buck.
Most of the major game publishers dont port their great titles like Fallout 3, Oblivion, GTA IV, Rainbow 6 Vegas so i sold it and switched back to 360. Much happier.
And i hope the Natal Project never comes to fruition. Motion control sucks for anything but party games.
Engadget, what are you talking about? Black Wii's have been available for months now.
You sold it and "switched back" to a 360?
It must suck to only be able to own one system.
Gee, how nice of Nintendo to give us more colors. Now, how about better games for the Wii? Oh, that's right. They don't care.
Are you kidding? They'd have to pay a company to actually make a worthwhile game, meaning they would lose 50 cents profit! [/sarcasm]
Does this picture show perhaps they'll have a Wiimote with a built-in Motion Plus (see circled)
no need to build them without it built in now
picture is inconclusive...
it's a good idea, but it won't happen.
Have you ever tried playing a game that uses the remote sideways, like Super Paper Mario or the forthcoming New Super Mario Brothers Wii, with MotionPlus in? It's a pain.
Besides, a non-removable MotionPlus would mean that the remote wouldn't fit in accessories like the Wii Wheel or the Zapper.
A non-removable MotionPlus isn't going to happen until they can fit it in the same case as the original.
It's so you can buy the Wii Motion Plus Zapper for the one game that 'might' require it.
Nice advertising. /sarcasm

the only reason they don't sell the whole thing as a bundle because they know how ridiculous it would look to have a controller be that expensive. so they'll keep acting like the nunchuck is optional.
because once you go black, you won't go back

Is it only for tyrannosaurus arms? why the abbreviated cord
Hmm, the black remote looks bigger than my white one.
Seriously, who really cares what color the Wii is? Is Engadget staffed by a bunch of chicks? Will you ladies be all aflutter over the Hot Pink Hello Kitty Wii that'll inevitably make it's way to your doorstep next year sometime?
Japan always gets the good stuff lol. I want a "elite" wii heh
Wow that thing looks really cool. But it probably will take months before it's available here in Europe.
Would be great if some of the new stuff could start here first instead of Japan. But for whatever reason they test the market over their first.

Time to call Al sharpton.
I'm sick of Nintendo and their accessories...when you add it up it is the most expensive console on the planet. Plus it has pigeon-holed itself with motion games.
i just got the motion plus thing as a gift for my birthday this weekend, its kind of a pain in the butt, it doesnt work with my nyko charge base, so i have to remove the silicone AND the motion plus before i can recharge my rechargeable battery on my wiimote.
Why doesn't Nintendo just save us all the time/money/hassle and dump the whole BUNDLE crap and just integrate it into a new controller, that way we don't have three pieces to lose/break/replace, not including the battery cover, and while they're at it throw in a wireless nunchuck and rechargeable battery to boot.
Am I the only one who doesn't put that rubber sleeve on the controller? I didn't find it all that hard to not smash the controller to bits or throw it at the TV. I feel like the only thing it does is make it hard to change batteries.
I use neither the silicon Wii "condom" nor the wrist strap, because I'm an adult.
That's racist.
Holy crap, lets all talk about how much we hate or like the Wii! That's original!
On the subject, I guess Nintendo is a "victim" of its own success. If the white wii is selling well still, then why even introduce new colors? It won't boost sales appreciably. I imagine they saw the Sony and MS motion coming a while back, and that is why they added Motion+.
I'm hoping the extra-short nunchuk cable is just there to make the photo prettier, otherwise I'm going to have a "now I have TWO controllers" situation five minutes into play!
all i can say is DUST.
de_dust?
I would buy a black Wii in a second. I currently play my roommate's. I guess there's always the Colorware route, but their black Wiis don't look even close to as good as the native black ones.
Oh wow, it looks even more stupid in the black rubber thing than in the clear one. I never bothered with it, even though they were free they just look terrible and I am never going to throw my Wiimote anyway. Then again, that's partially because I never touch my Wii.
