BlackBerry Storm, Storm 2 face off on video, result predictable

Every indication we've got is that the Storm 2 is going to foam at the mouth, tear apart the original Storm limb-by-limb, and eat its young when it's released later this year -- and if you want some preliminary evidence of that, look no further than a newly-posted video detailing a few reasons why the new model's so much better. In the event you'd like to spare yourself four minutes of rimshot-worthy bad jokes, allow us to boil down the video to its bare essentials: the star of the show says the Storm 2 looks better than the original (we're hard pressed to disagree), it's got WiFi, you've got considerably more free RAM and Flash on board, the revamped SurePress mechanism makes typing easier, the interface is snappier, and shutter lag in the camera is way improved. At the end of the day, it's still a Storm in every sense of the word, it's just been tweaked and refined in seemingly all the right ways -- which just happens to be a common theme these days. Actually Gigaddon your not.

The phone in the picture is a Vodafone handset. Obviously unlocked with an At&t sim in it.

Just don't forget that most phone manufacturers make their phones for GSM/WCDMA first. Then they are usually converted to CDMA. They will sell more GSM phones is why. CDMA are usually only made at the carriers request for a handset.

I had the storm 1 and I must say it was the worst phone I ever had. This is a pointless video because he is giving reasons to buy a storm 2 over a storm 1. Clearly anyone would get the newer version of a phone when choosing between two models. I always said I would never switch to ATT because the service sucked but then the iPhone 3GS came out, I did just that. THE BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE.

Yeah it's said that blackberry is the fastest growing company in the world but it does not and will not ever match up to the iPhone. NEVER EVER. Blackberrys have the worst OS and their apps are lame not to mension dated. The apps look completely sub par. SWITCH TO AN IPHONE. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

Worst decision I ever made leaving my blackberry for an iCrap-phone. Switch to a berry, you wont ever regret it if you have a mind that can think for itself!!!

Why does anyone have to be a douche? Just watch the video and post a comment of your own opinion and avoid the name calling. Otherwise if you can't then mind your own f***king business. Besides after being with BB for more than 5 years, one thing I will agree with is they are very stable and simple operating systems that are not made to WOW us but rather give us the simplicity in achieving our business tasks. That's why you can't compare BB's to iPhones. Iphones are all about media content and WOW hypes with some business like usability as well.

BB's are starting to really bore me and the apps truly don't match up to what's in Apple's app store. Again a simple brand type of phone for a simple purpose. I am ditching my BB 8900 and was thinking about going the iPhone route but now will be waiting for the Nokia N900 on T-Mobile.

See I didn't have to do any name calling now did I?

I think you are forgetting about all the limitations you have with your shiny new iPhone. like REAL Push notification you don't have to pay extra for. Or the fact you can download files right from a website perhaps? Can't do that on your iPhone.

The BB has a better screen, better camera, a more stable OS, and upgradable OS that you don't have to pay for, WAY better build quality.

Blackberry's are just better are pretty much everything. The only 1-up the iPhone has is the web browser. That will all change early next year with RIM releases the FULL FLASH web browser. Apple isn't planning that until the end of next year, and their's won't have FULL FLASH!

Iphones are junk.
I've had every one theyve had out so far, nothing can be worse then going to the apple store every week to get the stupid phone replaced.
Not to mention where-as blakcberries qualities go UP when they release the new verisons. Apples go DOWN.

Not sure what you are talking about, I have never once had to pay for an iPhone software update. I have also never had to replace a single iPhone in the 3 years I have had one. You have your own preference and that is fine, but don't go judging something you don't have. I have never had a blackberry, so I feel no obligation to pass judgement on them, period.

Does anyone know if the Storm 2 can operate on AT&T as a 3G phone? I think I read something about it only being 2100 mhz (perhaps to pickup Vodaphone). Plus every video I've seen only shows EDGE.

The storm and storm2 have several options when it comes to they keyboard. In this video, the user is using the suretype keyboard. There is also a portrait qwerty keyboard (the one you are referring to) and a landscape qwerty keyboard available.
