Blu-Link universal remote for PS3 is your ticket to weight gain
Sick of all the physical effort involved in shuffling multiple remotes? Back in the day (that is, until yesterday) if you wanted to use a universal remote control with your PS3 you had to get some sort of IR-to-Bluetooth adapter, like the one available for the Logitech Harmony. SMK, however, is looking to change that (and reinforce your inertia in the process) with Blu-Link. This bad boy combines a Bluetooth PS3 controller with a standard infrared universal remote. Other features include advanced learning (for gleaning button assignments from your other remotes) and support for more than 400 brands of standard and HDTV televisions and flatscreens, 150 VCR brands, 200 Satellite Receiver models, 100 Cable TV Receiver brands, 50 DVR models and 200 home theater surround sound systems. Available September 1st for $49.95. HIt the read link for more info.

harmony remotes change the paradigm of universal remotes. if this remote can't control via activity, i don't want it.
Exactly. This remote doesn't look like it does anything near to what the Harmony Remote does. I push one button, the remote turns on the correct devices, sets my tv to the correct input and sets my a/v receiver to the correct input. I don't see this remote doing that.
MOOOOOOOOMMM
BRING ME MY DAMN CHEESY POOFS
Mom! Kitty is being a dildo!
Well I know a little Kitty Kitty that is sleeping with Mommy tonight . . .
Looks like a fat TiVo remote.
hey logitech, please take this as an example and learn from it
Make it compatible with Windows Media Center too!
Blame Sony for not putting IR in their PS3s like the 360 did... What TV, DVD, Amp you know that is strictly bru-toof?? Just the PS3... Eff that noise... My harmony controls all my components including my htpc with xbmc on it...
Blue tooth is so 2000 and late....
Wow, you just said:
1) bluetooth is old when compared to IR
2) AND you quoted Fergie
I don't even have the heart to insult you further than that.
I actually like the harmony adapter instead of built in bluetooth... it limits the chances of accidentally turning on me PS3.
You to drive me crazy when I would find out the the PS3 had been running for hours when my entertain center doors were shut.
I have no idea what that guy just said.
Its interesting cause my harmony one does that same. Sure i had to buy an adapter, but i can use it with any of my Bluetooth enabled computers, which is all of them and i dont have to be in the same room to do it. So how is your IR better?
Yeah... I'd rather "fix" all the antiquated IR devices I have, and upgrade them to Bluetooth. I had a satellite TV system YEARS ago that used UHF instead of IR... loved it, and I couldn't believe manufacturers continued just pushing out IR devices.
Who said anything about bluetooth being old?? im saying... who the hell uses Blue tooth in their home theater products... ohhh i guess you guys got me there... Yeah IR/RF may be old, but it costs nothing to implement, and it works... theres absolutely no reason for sony to force feed bluetooth down your throat... So ohhh you got me... voted me down... But at the end of the day, the PS3 is the only product that needs an "attachment" to work with the harmony...
Take the fun out of leaving comments... im gonna go cut myself now...
Not just logitech.
I wish all CE makers (Sony, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Onkyo, etc) would start making their remotes and associated products with bluetooth control. RF (bluetooth) is better, because you don't have to point it at the device and can operate it while covered by blankets or around corners.
Here here, barcode... my point exactly!
I'm fine with IR being built into "bargain" devices, but when I pay over a grand for a TV, I want a damn RF remote!
This reminds me, is the PS3 still a good idea for a blu-ray player? I honestly haven't heard too much comparison any more.
yes
Blu-ray player? No. Many cheaper alternatives?
However, switch the hard drive with a much bigger one or PS3 Media Server and you have a great media center.
its not a bad choice, $300 is a little more than most stand-alones, but it has wireless internet and easy future firmware upgrades, plus you get a ps3 for games and media streaming
Yes, and the PS3 slim is an even better choice now with the lower price point and HDMI-CEC I believe.
As good as most, and it features a higher level of commitment from Sony to stay current with features through firmware updates. If you are looking strictly for a Blu-Ray player though, you have cheaper options.
Still good. No longer "the best" but definitely near the top. And considering everything you can do with it (compared to straight BD players) it's definitely worth it to me.
At last, a universal remote that's actually universal!
but does it support Media Center? i see no mention of Media Center. which makes this remote not so universal.
Would it work with Plex, and to keep everyone happy XMBC aswell?
You see michael, you have a universal remote control that can remote control your universe!
I wonder if the remote can learn VMC remote codes - if that is the case I will pick one up and be able to get rid of everything.
i like this, and the price is right, and it is glossy.
i think i will buy this
hope you guys are enjoying the afternoon
VCR brands? Jesus man what FOR?
Ask all those companies in Japan that keep pumping out Blu-Ray players/recorders with VHS recorders rammed up their ass.
It works well, but the remote situation is very irritating. Prepare to make some adjustments unless you want to use your PS3 controller as a remote, which sucks. It turns off, and it you set it down, sometimes you'll move a trigger, and you will skip scenes.
uhasthis? how?
Man this remote is awesome. A definite must buy for me since I juggle about 6 remotes. The feature I love most is the learn feature because a few of my devices have specialized buttons that never work with universal remotes.
Any word on retailers that are going to carry it? I checked their website and there are none listed is this online only?
Same here. PS3 remote, TV, Cable, and my (lost) surround sound system remote all in one?!!? As soon as this is available from other outlets, I'll be picking one up. I bet it could even learn the commands from my remote control space heater. That would be so sweet!
It looks to have the same issue I have with most remotes, the "enter" or "select" button is way away from the number pad. This is a big issue with my TV, as it will let you enter up to 4 digits(hundred of channels+digital substations), so when I enter "65", I either have to wait for it to decide I don't want to press more(many seconds), or move all the way up my long remote to hit select. It is very annoying, and I refuse to buy any remote that doesn't fix this issue. Call me old fashion, but I still enjoy my old TV remote that had a number pad, volume and channel changers, and a mute button. Add a few more extra little ones, but you could reach every button with one thumb without moving the control in your hand.
I feel sorry for you.
just save yourself some time and enter '0065' instead of just '65' and you won't have to wait!
Not a bad idea, I've never tried it. That might help me, as remote travel adds a lot of effort what what is suppose to be an easy to use device. My old TV remote I can use with my head buried in a pillow. Using the 0s might just give me the same ability(mostly) on my nice Samsung LCD.
How the fsck do you watch TV with your head buried inside a pillow?
You listen to it. When I'm laying in my bed, I don't normally need to watch the TV. Especially because most of the shows I watch are comedy based, and most jokes are audio only.
Looking up the code list, it looks like it supports VMC remotes.

Almost perfect! Cheep, Universal... just needs macro!
Interesting product... but $55 for shipping to Canada = Stick it up your...
Can it turn your PS3 on and off? I know that has been an issue with other remotes.
Umm... I believe that's "Window to wait gain"
Don't think that's quite right, either...
Of course that's right!
"If the paper turns clear, it's your window to weight gain!"
"did you go to Hollywood upstairs medical school too?"
Jay C called it. I pecked out that comment in a hurry and spelled it wrong. Allow me to correct....
"Window to weight gain"
Microsoft and Media Center PC are both listed under DVR in the manual for the codes ( with the same code number )
if you bother to look..
This might be a winner for me. Need to get WAF approal
