Netgear ships ultra-speedy WNDR3700 dual-band router
If you've grown increasingly incensed by those annoying dropouts caused by your 80s-era wireless router, it looks like Netgear has your cure. Though, we must say, there's at least a decent chance you don't have the coinage to procure said medicine. At $190, the RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNDR3700) is one of the pricier WLAN routers on the market, though the amenities list is pretty impressive. The ReadyShare feature enables any USB hard drive to be viewed on the network, while the DLNA support and "real-world" throughput of 350Mbps shines up an already glistening device. There's even a broadband usage meter for those unfortunately dealing with Comcast caps, and if you actually use this as a remote media server, you'll definitely want to keep an eye on that.

i would like a fiber cable router for a decent price because then it would be fast to stream movies to my things
What an appropriate username...
Cat 6 is more than good enough, unless you have a really massive house, even then a bridge or a switch sort that out.
I got one last week and from all the tests at this point it does not support DLNA at this point, not sure it ever will either.
yum. 350mbps "real world" - if that is true, and if I can find a decent PCI wireless adapter that can do the same, I just might get one.
802.11n's final draft will feature 600mbps, however it is still no where close to 350mbps real world throughput advertised
(for wireless, expect only half of the advertised bandwidth to be actually used at peak, even if you're 5 feet away with clear line of sight, for wired, expect 90%~ of the advertised bandwidth to be used at peak, within 500ft.)
perhaps they ment combined throughput?
Also, PCI? Really? PCI can't even do over 300 using wire.
I'd love to get this but I'm waiting for WiMax to come to Raleigh, NC and I'm not sure how this will fit (or if there's even room for it) in the final setup.
WiMax is supposed to be very fast right? Will this router slow down WiMax or not?
Sorry I'm not terribly smart when it comes high speed internet and the various options out there.
This will not support wimax, as it does not have a wimax radio. If you wanted to,you could share the wimax signal from a computer with that radio to the router.
Yeah, this won't support WiMAX or any other cellular data protocol. It's strictly for distributing internet from your cable/DSL modem to your WiFi devices in the home.
Oh, and GO PACK this Thursday!
You are not intelligent period Sprinkles.
Do these routers that have USB connections for hard drives allow hubs for multiple hard drives?
Unsure at this moment, But i can test that when i get home this evening.
Cool, thanks!
WRT support?
ill get this when i change over to comcast's balls to the wall extreme 50 next month :P
I have had so many issues with flaky Netgear routers that I have pretty much given up on them. The previous version of this router also had a lot of user complaints. The specs look great, though.
Instead of trying to make it look cool they might try making their product more reliable. After 4 failed access points/router I gave up on netgear. It's going to take a miracle for me to trust netgear again. After going to d-link dir-655...I'm not going back to netgear. I never have problems with my dlink.
Yea, I've not had much experience with their wifi routers, but their business line switch gear is rock solid.
Yes... it may look nice, but does it come with a fan built in? *cough* Linksys POS *cough*
I'm always very happy with Netgear. Almost all my equipment at home is from netgear. The only problem I had with them was with a DSL modem 2 years ago. But that was the first generation of DSL Modems, and probably still very buggy. But all their routers and switches work perfectly. Another very important thing is support. You can call them and get very good help. They even sent me a new device before I had to return the old one. Really amazing.

I've seen these already available at Fry's - Concord, CA for $159.99!
I should have taken a photo or bought it that day, saw it Saturday, August 29.
I wonder if that stand is removable.
Stand is removable. It ships without the stand on it, so you can choose to put it on.
I wonder if the stand is flippable. Currently, for the display to face forward, it has to be on the right side of the base... I'd rather it be on the left side because of how my equipment rack is situated.
Wtf is "ReadyShare feature" NFS, Samba?
Probably just a "virtual USB port" for the thumbdrives.
Yes, you can place a USB Hub on the USB Port and connect multiple drives. I have had 3 connected at once without issue. Stand is removable so you can place it in a horizontal configuration. One thing that was not mentioned that I like is the ability to allow a Guest Access. Completely seperate , you can allow say a Guest or Neighbor to have internet access, and while doing so turn on/off access to your intranet. This was a well tought out device with allot of cool "geek"features
